Job Description

Avalon Basketball is seeking a dedicated and dynamic Director of Recreation to oversee and enhance our youth programs. Basketball experience is an asset but not a requirement. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of all recreational activities, building strong relationships with youth athletes and their parents, and maintaining a safe and welcoming environment at our facilities. This role includes managing athlete information, ensuring our coaches are well-supported and safe, and serving as a key liaison with the provincial sport organization.

Requirements:

Experience in recreation management or working with youth is required. Availability to attend the majority of practice sessions on weekends, as well as games and tournaments, to ensure a safe and positive environment.

Key Responsibilities

Maintain strong, positive relationships between youth athletes and their parents Plan and coordinate non-basketball outings and fun activities for youth athletes and coaching staff Ensure the facility and overall program environment is safe, inclusive, and welcoming Brainstorm and implement strategies to build community spirit around the program Serve as a liaison between the club and the provincial sport organization Maintain open communication with other local basketball communities and programs

Basketball experience is an asset but not a requirement.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $19.00-$25.00 per hour

Expected hours: 7 - 20 per week
