UGE develops, owns, and operates community and commercial solar and energy storage projects, primarily in the United States. With over a decade of experience in the industry, we are on the front lines, working to accelerate the transition to clean, reliable energy.
Job Summary
The Director of Projects leads our project construction efforts. With project sizes ranging from .5 to 5 mW and spanning geographies from Texas to Maine, this person is responsible for a large, geographically diverse team and network of subcontractors. Ensuring UGE keeps its commitments and executes on time and within budget are the two ideas that drive this role. The ideal candidate has a nose for managing people, developing simple/effective processes, communicating thoughtfully, and negotiating at scale. This is a challenging role in which a leader will rely on a broad network to put work in place.
Today the team includes 3 direct reports and a team of 12, though this will grow rapidly given the current pipeline of work + planned growth. The role reports to our COO.
Responsibilities

• Build 100% of UGE\xe2\x80\x99s projects on time and in compliance with customer expectations
• Support strong process and collaboration from inception through to asset management
• Lead long- and short-term strategy and planning for the deployment team
• Hire/fire, compensation, and other performance management for the entire deployment team
• Drive a safe and healthy work environment through policy, guidance and example
  

• 5+ years in construction management (ability to read, interpret, and manage design, development, and construction documents, specifications, and bids)
• Clear communicator, motivated self-starter, highly organized, resourceful, and comfortable working in an entrepreneurial environment
• Detail-oriented, strong professional judgment, a strong sense of personal responsibility and ownership of work product
• Strong problem solving skills
• Travel required: 10 - 25%
  

• Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree (or equivalent) required
• Master\xe2\x80\x99s degree preferred
