SUMMARY OF THE POSITION Our client is looking for an experienced IT professional to oversee all application development in their rapidly growing e-commerce company. You will be in charge of a small team of developers/contractors and will work closely (“hand in glove”) with the IT Operations Manager and the Head of Database to implement new and enhanced systems, software, procedures and policies to ensure (a) optimization of customers’ shopping experiences on the Company’s high volume/transaction intensive ecommerce site, (b) correct and rapid processing and fulfillment of all customers orders placed on the site and through affiliated marketing/sales outlets, and (c) all EDI connections with product vendors/suppliers are promptly established and function properly. YOUR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES WILL BE:

• Oversee the systems and application architecture of the ecommerce platform on which the Company’s ecommerce business operates and evaluate and implement according to established goals, including the following:
  • Review project priorities and progress with senior management team;
  • Manage development projects for the development team, including collecting requirements from business users, designing and documenting solution designs, and overseeing and participating in development efforts, and validating and releasing completed work;
  • Work with the IT Operations Manager to ensure completed development implemented correctly and on-time;
  • Work with the IT Operations Manager to troubleshoot production issues;
  • Architect and implement integrations with supporting vendor platforms - these include EDI integrations with vendors, both product suppliers and support services providers, as well as marketplaces (e.g., Amazon, ebay, etc.);
  • Architect and implement API integrations to NetSuite ERP.
• In concert with the IT Operations Manager, devise and establish IT systems, policies and procedures to support the implementation of strategies set by senior management;
• In concert with the IT Operations Manager, analyze the business requirements of all departments to determine their technology needs;
• Ensure productive and cost-effective usage of technology software and services;
• Assist in building relationships with vendors and creating cost-efficiencies.

REQUIREMENTS FOR THIS POSITION ARE: Specific Technical Requirements and Skills Required Experience

• Leading small teams of developers with agile methodologies (scrum, Kanban, etc.)
• .NET development for ASP.NET and/or ASPDotNetStorefront (MVC and WebForms) and Windows Services and SQL Server
• Building integrations with third parties via FTP and API
• Collecting requirements and then designing/documenting solutions
• Supporting production Windows Server environments

Desired Experience

• Experience in early stage/high growth/entrepreneurial environment a plus
• Experience integrating with the following technologies:
  • PostgreSQL database with document database layers such as Marten DB
  • NetSuite API (or similar);
  • Channel Advisor API (or similar);
  • Order Management EDI formats (X12formats such as 850,855,856,810,846);
  • Continuous build/deployment with tools like TeamCity, Octopus Deploy, and SQL Server deployment packages.
  
  

Other job requirements

• Proven experience as application development leader in a fast-paced/high growth environment or similar/comparable role;
• Experience in analysis, implementation and evaluation of IT systems and their specifications;
• Excellent organizational and leadership skills;
• Outstanding communication abilities;
• BSc/BA in computer science, engineering or relevant field; MSc/MA will be a plus;
• Must speak English.
