The Director will be responsible for, but not limited too:

  • Ongoing support for employees (employee verification letters, payroll questions, relationships, day-to-day ongoing questions).
  • Overseeing the HR Employee System
  • Be involved with the general affairs of Human Resources for the entire Hotel Arts Group and it's Artisans
  • Provide support to the Artisans where needed.
  • Responsible for the monthly financials, adhering to the Human resources budget and providing information to the Accounting and Director of Finance team when needed.
  • Be knowledgeable and active in the creation and management of the Hotel Arts Group Human Resources budget.
  • Directing the recruitment and selection process, including providing ongoing support and guidance relating to recruitment to our operational leaders, sourcing new recruitment pools, preparing advertisements and job postings, conducting interviews, verifying references and coordinating employment offers and regrets and generating employee files.
  • Ensuring legal compliance in all aspects of the recruitment function (Human Rights, Privacy, Employment Standards, Occupational Health & Safety)
  • Oversee and help direct the hotel social committee
  • Support with planning of and participate as able in, all internal and external Human Resources activities. E.g. The summer leadership event, annual employee events, White Hat awards, etc.
  • Draft memos, newsletters and other internal and external communications as needed.
  • Oversee and help direct the Hotel Arts Group Health and Safety Committee. (Investigate, report and correct any issues.)
  • Track, record and investigate all WCB claims, WHMIS and first aid certifications.
  • Administer all new hire orientation seminars, including attendance tracking.
  • All other duties as assigned by the General Manager and Executive Team.
The potential candidate will have the following attributes:
  • 3+ years of previous experience in a Human Resources Generalist or Manager role is required for this position
  • Previous experience in leading or guiding a team
  • Previous experience in hospitality is a strong asset
  • Candidate may be pursuing or have recently completed a degree or certificate which is HR focused
  • Candidate has a flexible work schedule but will mainly be on site Mon-Fri
  • Occasional weekend work will be required
