About this Opportunity The Richmond Country Club (RCC) is recruiting a full-time Director of Finance (DOF) to join our dynamic team. The DOF reports to the General Manager and is responsible for the management and implementation of the Clubs financial operations, accounting, and control functions. This leader is a key member of the Senior Leadership Team, provides strategic and analytical support to the GM, Senior Leaders, Finance Committee, and the Board of Directors. This leader also supervises an accounting team of two personnel. This leader will be directly responsible for all financial aspects of the Clubs operations within the confines of its strategic framework and will work collaboratively with the Senior Leadership Team, while working to ensure best accounting practices are exercised.

Duties and Responsibilities of the Director of Finance:

  • Facilitate and oversee all financial transactions and reporting therein.
  • Ensure proper internal controls are in place to adequately safeguard assets and provide accurate financial information with integrity.
  • Supervise Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Memberships and Payroll functions including supervising the AP and AR team personnel.
  • Comply with local, provincial, and federal government reporting requirements, and tax filings.
  • Oversee control systems for insurance coverage payroll and employee benefit plan.
  • Champion the Clubs annual budgeting and forecasting process including Capital, Financial and Operating budgets and providing guidance around capital financing options.
  • Processing cards, payments, and related support to operations.
  • Manage cash flow.
  • Assist and provide financial planning and results management analysis to identify risks, opportunities, and effective options.
  • Promote a sound fiscal climate and responsible stewardship, including a culture of informed decision-making.
  • Promote a culture of efficient, results and customer-oriented service.
  • Monitor best practices and trends and implement beneficial changes as needed.
Reports:

  • Reviewing a bi-weekly and semi-monthly payroll process for over 100 employees.
  • Monthly statements and package for Management and Board Members such as: Balance Sheet summary, Income Statements, Cash flow, and analysis of variance on budget versus actual statements and reconciliation.
  • Quarterly reports such as gratuities program and financial results.
  • Annually preparing all required schedules and documentation for the year-end external audit.
  • Assisting in preparing the Clubs annual operating, cash management and CapEx budgets.
  • Tax filing reports, both Financial and Provincial.
  • Reports to assist with the annual insurance and banking reviews.
  • Other reports, as requested.
Policies, Systems, Processes & Procedures:
  • Develop and maintain a documented system of accounting.
  • Maintaining alignment of the Clubs accounting policies and procedures in accordance GAAP.
  • Maintaining financial database and storage of records (Government documents, taxes, etc.)
Internal and/or External Collaboration:
  • Liaising and supporting the work of the Clubs Board of Directors and specifically, its Audit and Finance Committee, as required.
  • Manage relationships with the financial institutions, insurance provider, telecommunications network and other team members and club members as needed.
  • Manage and oversee the relationship with the external auditors.
  • Assist and liaise with the external IT company on technology decisions and assist with the day-to-day IT issues where possible and leading coordination tasks therein.

Knowledge and Experience:
  • Chartered Professional Accountant designation is preferred
  • 5 or more years of experience in Financial Leadership positions, with experience in the hospitality, resorts, and/or private country club industries is ideal
  • Experience providing sound financial and systemic support and guidance
  • Experience leading a small team
  • Superior technical/ computer skills
  • Familiarity with systems such as Jonas is preferred

Work Environment:
  • On-site and regular work location at RCC, 9100 Steveston Highway, Richmond, BC
  • 40-hour work week
  • Potential Start Date: Beginning of March
