About the Role
Reporting directly to the President, the Director of Finance contributes to the overall financial health and growth of the organization by providing strategic direction and insights to the Board and leadership team. With demonstrated commitment to excellence within Christian education, the Director of Finance will work independently and collaboratively to establish targets, develop budgets, and perform detailed financial analysis to lead Edvance\xe2\x80\x99s Financial Services portfolio towards growth and success.
Responsibilities

  • Manage the financial operation of the organization including: accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll and benefits, government filings
  • Oversee the organization\xe2\x80\x99s banking plan and related investment portfolio
  • Research and maintain specialized knowledge of relevant competitive group insurance options and availability
  • Collaborate with organization\xe2\x80\x99s professional partner(s) to maintain manuals and schedules related to compensation and employment
  • Participate on team that processes school financial data for cost per student calculations and T3010 preparation
  • Oversee financial regulatory compliance relevant to Christian schools and Christian education
  • Provide guidance and best practices to Christian school operational finance professionals
  • Lead budgeting, financial planning and forecasting process
  • Prepare financial reports and other analysis tools for the Board and leadership team
  • Develop and execute financial strategies to support the mission and initiatives of Edvance and the Christian school sector
  • Coordinate with external financial entities as required, on behalf of the organization

Skills
  • Accounting, budgeting and data management
  • Statistical analysis and interpretation
  • Strong analysis and problem-solving abilities
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to interpret relevant financial legislation
  • Familiarity with the needs of Christian school charities, understanding governance model and financial structures
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively
  • Superior communication skills; both written and verbal
  • In depth knowledge of financial software including QuickBooks and MS Office

Education
  • Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree in Accounting or related field
  • Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation
