Director, Key Accounts

This senior level opportunity leads a team of Key Account Managers to obtain distributor commitment to Bayer Seed, Traits, Germplasm, Crop Protection products, and Climate FieldView in line with established budgets, by managing relationships and business interactions with key distributor customers in a manner which optimizes Bayer Crop Science sales and profits. This role also oversees the Licensing Business strategy with Distribution and Seed Partners, while maintaining an appropriate firewall within the team and commercial business for Seeds and Traits

Bayer is committed to a flexible hybrid working environment. This is a permanent position in Canada with a preferred location of Calgary, Alberta.

What you will do:

  • Work with sales and marketing teams to develop strategic Distributor direction to design and implement programs for Bayer Crop Science products that are profitable and effective in meeting or exceeding sales targets
  • Work with VP Customer Marketing and VP Sales to ensure Distribution opportunities for Licensing of Germplasm and traits is managed to maximize Bayer\'s share of Seeds and Traits
  • Develop Key Distributor sales targets (from Bayer Crop Science budgets) and strategy for line distributors that reflect Bayer Crop Science and distributor needs and obtaining Bayer Crop Science share of shelf space
  • Personally represent and build effective working relationships for Bayer Crop Science with key business influencers at distributor headquarters that will maximize market share of Bayer Crop Science products, traits, and germplasm
  • Work closely with marketing and sales to identify and incorporate distributor needs into Bayer Crop Science product programming to maximize distributor commitment
  • Create distribution satisfaction that increases sales by delivery and administration of Bayer Crop Science product marketing programs in a manner identified by distributors as superior to major competitors
  • Design, implement and evaluate distributor relationship building events that strengthen loyalty, enhance business interaction, and make Bayer Crop Science preferred supplier
  • Communicate to all relevant Bayer Crop Science personnel, distributor information that will enhance achievement of Bayer Crop Science goals and sales objectives (for Seeds and Traits, Crop Protection, Licensing and Climate Fieldview)
  • Lead a team of Key Account managers to maximize opportunities within distribution and regional sales teams
Who you are:
  • B.A / B.S in Business, or Agriculture or related discipline (advanced degree an asset)
  • 10+ years of industry experience combined with solid technical knowledge of Bayer Crop Science and competitor products
  • Sound understanding of business principles, financial systems, corporate and department philosophies
  • Thorough knowledge of distributors philosophy, structure and operating systems
  • Strong interpersonal skills and communication ability to build respect, trust and influence with key distributors\' decision-makers
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with an ability to overcome objections or resistance and identify mutually agreeable solutions to complex and ambiguous problems.
  • Ability to make decisions with limited information while balancing the needs and priorities (sometimes competing) of various stakeholders
  • Extensive computer skills to effectively use MS Office software package, and other software (SAP, CRM, etc.)
