The Director, Information Management supports and enhances Yukon Hospital Corporation program delivery and performance through oversight and deployment of information management, technology, telecommunications and Health Records management resources. The incumbent is responsible for the Yukon Hospital\'s strategic deployment of information management and information technology (IM / IT) and telecommunications (telecom) solutions in support of YHC priorities and programs.

Knowledge and Skills Required:

• Broad knowledge of information systems technology and its application to a hospital environment
• Knowledge of framework underlying the Yukon Hospital Corporation\'s records management program, including statutory and legislative requirements (ATIPP Act, Yukon Statutes, federal access and privacy legislation
• Excellent knowledge of management methods and techniques including human and financial management
• Excellent knowledge of information management principles and practices
• Knowledge of records management operations
• Knowledge of research practices and sources
• Good analytical and synthesis skills
• Good problem solving and conflict resolution skills
• Good initiative, discretion and judgment
• Ability to prepare a budget and determine resource requirements
• Ability to prepare reports, manuals and correspondence
• Ability to resolve operational problems and assess staff performance
• Effective interpersonal skills to maintain working relationships inter, intra and extra hospital environment
• Cross cultural awareness and sensitivity
• Advanced computer skills - word processing, database
• Ability to work effectively with the public
• Effective oral and written communications skills

The successful candidate will have a Degree in Health Informatics, Management Information Systems, Computer Sciences (Health Technology) or similar; A minimum of eight (8) years experience working in a Healthcare Information Systems environment; and 5 to 10 years experience directly managing an Information Systems department in a healthcare setting, preferably with an Acute Care organization. An equivalent combination of education/training and/or experience may be considered. Masters in Health Informatics, Management Information Systems, Computer Sciences (Health Technology) or similar are desired.
