Salary Range: $150,790 to $188,485 per annum (plus comprehensive benefits)

Hours of work: 35 hours per week


The Region of Peel serves more than 1.5 million residents and approximately 175,000 businesses in Brampton, Caledon, and Mississauga and delivers a wide range of resident focused services across the Region. Supporting an office of 100 full time staff, the Region of Peel is seeking a Director, Human Resources to head the HR function and contribute to the strategic vision and wellbeing of the Region of Peel.


Reporting to the CFO and Commissioner, Corporate Services, the Director, Human Resources provides strategic leadership and direction to a team of Human Resources professionals in the development, formation, and implementation of fully integrated human resources programs reflective of the Regional Values. Leveraging their team of 11 direct reports, The Director, HR is responsible for the following essential corporate functions and their continuous improvement: workforce payroll, non-union compensation, union collective bargaining negotiations and compensation, benefit programs, occupational health and safety management system, psychological health and safety management system, and employee and labour relations matters. The Director is responsible for developing an HR strategic plan with the objective of identifying continuous enhancements to the processes, tools, and culture.


As the ideal candidate, you have deep HR generalist and leadership experience working in a public sector, multi-unionized environment. You bring a relevant post-graduate degree and at least 10 years working in a HR leadership function. Your ability to establish a high level of client trust and confidence across departments sets you apart. Your passion for creating clear paths for employee growth and development has resulted in deep loyalty and commitment to the organizations in which you\xe2\x80\x99ve served.
