Summary:

The incumbent will lead transformational change efforts that further the company’s ability to deliver outstanding service to our clients while ensuring the best environment for growth and engagement for our members. Reporting to the President, the Director, Human Resources will work hand in hand with the senior leadership team to build and deliver HR programs and services that drive the overall business performance and engagement initiatives aligned to business strategies, objectives and opportunities. These include, but are not limited to, strategic growth, employee relations, corporate communication, compensation and benefits, performance management, succession planning, employee engagement, recruitment, policy and procedure development/implementation.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Lead implementation of core HR initiatives into the business ensuring an effective sustainable people strategy over the long term.
  • Lead in furthering the current Human Resource Information Systems and assist in the integration with other company systems, processes, and reporting to create efficiencies within the Human Resources department, as well as contributing to similar and continuous improvement efforts across the organization.
  • Planning and overseeing the HR department, and HR budget including training and development.
  • Develop people programs that drive a high-performance culture through talent management, performance management, recruitment programs, and leadership training.
  • Develop and implement a corporate communication strategy across all business units and offices.
  • Design, direct and manage a company-wide process of organizational structures that addresses issues such as succession planning, superior workforce development, key employee retention, design organizational structure, and change management.
  • Participate in establishing an in-house employee training and development program which includes assessment, new employee orientation and/or onboarding, management development and training analysis.
  • Lead and design the implementation of a performance management program that includes individual development plans (IDPs).
  • Consult with senior leadership on challenges pertaining to identification, development, assessment and management of talent.
  • Operate as a member of the senior leadership team in developing business strategies and contributing to operational and management decision making in meeting Company strategic business objectives.
  • Develop and implement action plans for resourcing offices in new markets and geographic areas across Canada.
  • Formulate and recommend Human Resources policies and objectives for the company regarding employee relations.
  • Management of Employee Relations and related strategies.
  • Negotiate and manage employee benefits, health and wellness program.
  • Develop and manage compensation program, including best practices and principles to support the design and creation of competitive compensation programs to drive employee performance and business results.
  • Ensure compliance with industry regulations and governing laws.
  • Integrate current HR systems/data into new ERP software and platforms.

Qualifications and Core Competencies:

  • A minimum of 10 years of progressive HR experience, with at least 5 years of executive HR experience, with a passion for developing new programs and growth strategies.
  • CHRE Designation.
  • Proven experience in partnering with senior executives within an organization, influencing strategy at the leadership level that results in a measured increase in business performance.
  • Extensive experience providing employment related advice and strategic counsel to multiple business partners on a variety of employee relations, legislative and employment issues with a view to meeting business needs, while minimizing legal risks to the organization and supporting overall employee engagement.
  • Strong understanding of applicable employment, human rights and duty to accommodate legislation.
  • Demonstrated conceptual, analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Highly developed leadership, team building, coaching and conflict resolution skills.
  • Can demonstrate a strong and developed network of industry leaders that can be leveraged to quickly and efficiently tackle challenges as they arise in real-time.
  • Can quickly establish credibility and respect and build strong working. relationships with staff at all levels within the organization.
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) - handles complex and difficult situations with thought and confidence.
  • Ability to recognize the value and responsibility of working in a team; actively supports and develops team members.
  • Ability to generate effective and pragmatic solutions to new situations and problems as they are presented.
  • Self-starter, motivated, enthusiastic with a relentless desire for organizational and personal success.
