Are you ready to make a big impact? Consider this role and support special HR initiatives and program efforts across Digital Business and Technology Solutions team with a focus on building the best workforce!

This role will be responsible for advancing two key priorities - 1.) Increasing participation in our DBTS Gig Program and 2.) Embedding a Learning Culture across DBTS. This role will report to the VP, HRBP, DBTS and will have bi-lateral DBTS accountabilities in the roll-out of the named priorities.

The role is ideal for a self-motivated team player with a track record of using data to drive change, solid business acumen, strong relationship building skills across the organization, a keen understanding of employee motivation and is able to work independently with senior leaders.

Please note this is a 12-month temporary position.

What will you do?

There are two main concepts we are expecting to further embed in our workforce and success will be determined by outcomes delivered versus inputs. In this role the incumbent will set the baseline and take specific actions to drive increased usage of the DBTS Gig program as well as further embed a Learning Culture across DBTS:

Drive increased awareness and participation in Sun Life's Opportunity Marketplace ("Gigs") Program by:

  • Establish baseline metrics and goals for participation
  • Work collaboratively across DBTS, DBTS Human Resources and Global Talent to increase adoption
  • Author and activate marketing plan to encourage the use of the program
  • Reduce competing interests between Gig Hosts and Giggers
  • Connect with employees to understand barriers to participating and create plans to mitigate
  • Become SME on Gigs and promote at various leadership tables
  • Through the use of data demonstrate how increased participation is affecting key people metrics such as Engagement, Attrition and Career Confidence
Promote an increased Learning Culture across DBTS by:
  • Work closely with Digital Transformation Learning Solutions and Global Talent team to understand current priorities and opportunities
  • Partnering with DBTS Leaders and Managers to drive adoption across teams
  • Prepare documentation that helps employees understand what training is currently available and how it is aligned with career growth
  • Augment current training and learning opportunities with creative ideas to increase employee engagement in continuous learning
  • Uncover barriers and create mitigating plans to address what gets in the way of having a "learn all the time" culture
What are key outcomes?

Author, organize and execute against a multi-faceted plan that demonstrates to employees we are invested in their careers and growth. This includes:
  • Comprehensive work plan with key milestones articulated
  • Communication plan for both Opportunity Marketplace and Learn all the Time strategy that inspires and motivates
  • Stand up an internal talent roster identifying employees with key skills
  • Make it easier for employees to understand and pursue their career goals and increase their connectivity to Sun Life
  • Quantitative evidence that efforts have yielded improved results for employee engagement and attrition
What do you need to succeed?
  • Experience and orientation to being a self starter, able to work autonomously focused on delivering outcomes
  • Ability to influence diverse stakeholders towards common goals
  • Experience having supported or worked in an Information Technology environment would be considered an asset
  • Proven ability to build work plans and activate against those plans
  • Strong consulting and coaching skills
  • Creativity, critical thinking, deep curiosity and problem- solving skills
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to use data to drive to insights
  • Change management skills and experience
  • Ability to lead a program with multiple projects
  • Superior oral and written communication skills
  • Confidence interacting with senior management
  • Strong system thinking and the ability to identify solutions and associated impacts across the work efforts
  • Resourceful with a good knowledge of the Sun Life organization
Education and Training:
  • University degree preferred with emphasis on relevant areas of work and/or professional designation with 5 years of experience
  • A proven history of success in implementing initiatives and managing operations across a matrix organization
  • HR or related experience
  • Previous project/program management experience
  • Change management experience and training
The Base Pay range is for the primary location for which the job is posted. It may vary depending on the work location of the successful candidate or other factors. In addition to Base Pay, eligible Sun Life employees participate in various incentive plans, payment under which is discretionary and subject to individual and company performance. Certain sales focused roles have sales incentive plans based on individual or group sales results.
