The role

Reporting to the VP, Human Resources, the Director, HRBP is will be part of a dynamic global team providing HR support and advice to Digital Business and Technology Solutions. The role partners with a portfolio of leaders and employees in Canada, United States, Ireland, Hong Kong, India, Vietnam and the Philippines. The successful candidate will be a proactive leader with experience in a variety of HR disciplines and will enjoy managing complex deliverables while balancing unexpected issues in a timely manner.

What will you do:

  • Partners directly with a portfolio of DBTS Executives and their leadership teams to provide coaching and consulting on a wide variety of HR topics
  • Defines and executes strategic people initiatives, including transformation, change management, organizational effectiveness and strategic workforce planning.
  • Consults and leads organizational priorities with people implications, such as Digital Enterprise mobilizations.
  • Provides proactive advice using data, insights and analytics to inform business and talent decision making.
  • Reviews quarterly employee engagement survey results, communicates themes and sets action plans to address feedback
  • Delivers on key HR initiatives and programs including Talent, Succession, Engagement, myPay and myPerformance.
  • Engages and co-creates solutions with HR colleagues (Centres of Expertise, People Services and HRBPs) to solve business issues and optimize the employee experience.
  • Builds knowledge of HR, technology and industry trends to advance employee capability, develop and attract talent for the future.
  • May participate in Executive talent searches, in partnership with internal or external partners.
  • Connects and works closely with teams in Sun Life Global Solutions (India and Philippines.)
What do you need to succeed:
  • Undergraduate degree emphasis in a field related to an HR discipline and/or CHRP/CHRL designation
  • 10+ years of progressive work experience in Human Resources
  • A minimum 3 years as a Human Resources Business Partner supporting executive teams
  • Highly employee centric; willing to prioritize employee needs above other responsibilities
  • Ability to build relationships and to understand different perspectives across HR, Senior Executives and Sun Life.
  • A risk and governance mindset \xe2\x80\x93 appreciates part of HR\xe2\x80\x99s role is to manager risk and responds accordingly
  • A self starter, recognizes opportunities and is able to activate against those needs
  • Strong critical thinking, analytical and problem solving capabilities.
  • Good judgement, able to see the \xe2\x80\x9cgrey\xe2\x80\x9d in situations and coach leaders to best outcomes
  • Creative \xe2\x80\x93 understands the entire employee and manager life cycle and can generate approaches to maintain engagement
  • Confidence in communicating, influencing and coaching employees and leaders.
  • Ability to adapt and pivot through ambiguity and change.
  • Broad understanding of HR programs and connection to employee outcomes.
  • Respectful partner to HR and Communications colleagues understanding the balance between the needs and priorities of multiple teams.
  • Analytical and curious mindset on use of technology, change management, agile methods and data to advance the HR function and employee experience.
  • Experience with transformation, agile methodology and change management would be an asset.
The Base Pay range is for the primary location for which the job is posted. It may vary depending on the work location of the successful candidate or other factors. In addition to Base Pay, eligible Sun Life employees participate in various incentive plans, payment under which is discretionary and subject to individual and company performance. Certain sales focused roles have sales incentive plans based on individual or group sales results.
