Job summary
We\'re searching for a dynamic leader to join our Finance and Accounting Division in the role of Director, Group Controller. In this role, you will report into the VP, Finance, and lead the Corporate Accounting Group.

You will provide strategic leadership to the Division to nurture high-performing teams and collaborate with all levels of the organization to drive value for the business and improve operations. More specifically, you will be responsible for financial analysis, preparation of financial statements, external audits, and the overall application of consistent accounting practices across Aurora. As the Director, Group Controller you will\xe2\x80\xa6

  • Nurture a high-performing team of professionals to ensure alignment towards business goals by conducting performance reviews, and providing on-going training and support
  • Oversee the daily, monthly, quarterly, and year-end closing procedures across the Division including facilitating review meetings and analytics to ensure results are accurate
  • Review reconciliations to ensure completeness and accuracy across the trial balance, and delivery of accurate financial statements
  • Ensure all journal entries are US GAAP/IFRS and SOX compliant
  • Manage the preparation of monthly financial analysis and reports for Flash and month end and quarter end close
  • Support the process of creating, reviewing, and updating SOX narratives and manage the SOX testing program, including internal controls improvements, testing and deficiency remediation
  • Initiate the development and implementation of new procedures and controls to enhance the workflow of the department and accuracy of financial results
  • Establish strong relationships with external auditors while managing quarterly reviews and annual audits
  • Participate in U.S. GAAP conversion projects, process improvement initiatives and technology enhancements, including the standardization of reports and improvements to consolidation
  • Assist team members with annual budgeting and quarterly forecasting processes
  • Review documentation for tax returns (corporate, commodity and completed entity corporate tax returns)
As an experienced professional you will have\xe2\x80\xa6
  • Post-secondary education, such as a Bachelor\'s Degree, in Accounting, Finance or related field
  • A CPA or CA designation with previous experience working for a publicly traded company
  • Twelve years of relevant work experience in leadership positions within Finance or Accounting (we would also welcome an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience)
  • Strong knowledge of accounting practices and principles and Sage or other ERP packages
