Shared Health leads the planning and coordinates the integration of patient-centred clinical and preventive health services across Manitoba. The organization also delivers some province-wide health services and supports centralized administrative and business functions for Manitoba health organizations.


Position Overview


Capital and Facilities Management provides the capital planning and project delivery for healthcare projects across Manitoba\xe2\x80\x99s healthcare system as well as leading facilities management. Facilities management includes the operations and standards related to environmental services, security, environmental sustainability, energy/utility management, maintenance services and infrastructure engineering and support). The planning function coordinates a multi year capital plan aligning with approved clinical and preventive services plan. Project delivery services includes project design, construction administration, move and occupancy planning. Additionally, the FM services provides and coordinates these services directly for Manitoba\xe2\x80\x99s flagship hospital, Health Sciences Centre, and directly managed mental health and addiction services. The Shared Health Director, Environmental Sustainability and Energy leads and coordinates the provincial environmental sustainability and energy program. The environmental sustainability program is a province wide standard with support for specific site programs addressing improving healthcare\'s environmental impact, both towards regulatory compliance, industry standards and leading achievements. The environmental component includes utilities, goods and materials consumed, goods and containers utilized, waste management and environmental waste handling. The energy program includes managing, tracking and benchmarking the utilities (energy and water) both in terms of building systems consumption as well as occupant behavior, use and consumption. Shared Health tracks utility consumption centrally in order to provide provincial consistency in required provincial utility and carbon consumption, as well as a consistent platform for utility benchmarking. MAIN FUNCTION: Create, lead, manage and oversee all energy and environmental sustainability activities across healthcare facilities and operations in Manitoba. The incumbent will develop an environmental sustainability strategy for healthcare, engaging partners and agencies including Federal, Provincial, Municipal, utility and industry. Leads and coordinates all energy and environmental sustainability activities (submission/proposals, projects, awareness programs, etc.), collating and benchmarking all provincial health energy & sustainability statistics & reports. Oversees the required provincial carbon/green house gas reporting healthcare reporting by assuring that the standardized utility consumption software is integrated with the utility providers and that health regions track and provide all other required information. Manages the prime relationship between healthcare and Federal, Provincial (Efficiency Manitoba), Municipal, and any other related government partners, regulators and agencies. Manages the prime relationship between provincial healthcare with utilities and utility procurement services (through Shared Health Supply Chain Management or HealthPro).

Experience


  • 7- 10 years demonstrated leadership, understanding and delivery of energy and environmental sustainability program and initiatives in a large complex organization including varying levels of stakeholders and investors.


Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)


  • Bachelor\'s Degree in related Engineering or Environmental Studies.
  • Masters in Engineering, Environmental Studies or Business Administration preferred.


Certification/Licensure/Registration


  • Professional Engineer with, or eligible for registration with Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Manitoba (APEGM).
  • Registration as a LEED Accredited Professional or other similar registrations preferred .


Qualifications and Skills


  • Attainment of LEED professional credential.
