What is the Opportunity?

RBC Capital Markets is undertaking a green field project to build a new capability to serve corporate clients.

Your role will be to use your deep knowledge of data, combined with your understanding of client and business needs to create the business context to bring our data to life for the US Cash Management team and clients alike. You are a thoughtful, proactive, creative, analytical individual with a passion for solving problems for your colleagues and clients through the use of data.

What will you do?

  • Develop and drive implementation of the overall Data Strategy for the Business
  • Collaborate with Technology on the build of the foundational data layer including data infrastructure and provide business requirements and direction
  • Work with Business and IT partners to define strategic and tactical data requirements of the organization to fulfill business needs.
  • Drive the key initiatives of the Data team and make sure the initiatives are aligned and run smoothly
  • Be the Data SME and primary contact supporting the Business\xe2\x80\x99 various projects, with a focus on data governance, quality, requirements and specifications.
  • Understand the data sources, flows, architecture, data repositories, data requirements for downstream users
  • Working with the Data Governance team, review and update Critical Data Element (CDEs), identifying data risks and corresponding data controls.
  • Review, understand and challenge the lineage of documented CDEs
  • Working with partners, to ensure the Business complies with data privacy policies and data protection regulations.
  • Supporting the data requirements for Client Statements
  • Keep up to date with Agile best practices
  • Foster a data-driven culture
What do you need to succeed?

Must-have
  • 10+ years experience supporting a data initiative
  • Bachelor degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Technology or related field
  • Database development, querying and analysis tools and languages such as SQL, Oracle, Python, Data Visualization, Tableau etc
  • Passion for data, and commitment to learn new data capabilities
  • Knowledge of data governance and data management concepts such as critical data elements, data lineage, data accuracy and completeness and data controls
  • Understanding of technical data concepts such as data ingestion, data warehouse, data lakes, master reference data, data models, systems of record, aggregation layer and reporting systems
  • Experience with using Jira and Confluence
  • Excellent business communication skills (written and oral).
  • Ability to work independently and possess strong analytical and data problem-solving skills
  • Strong collaboration and relationship management skills
  • Effective time management and organizational skills to meet tight timeframes, as well as flexibility to adapt to changing priorities while assessing impact to existing work
