What is the opportunity?

Retail Banking Payments Technology Team (RBPT) partners with RBC Personal and Commercial Banking, to provide technology solutions across payment services. Our broad range of products and highly responsive service offers exceptional value to clients. CCTMP team focuses on digital cheque solutions, merchant solutions as well as Cash and Trade technology.

By joining our team, you will partner with senior business and technology partners to lead the strategic journey of delivering seamless digital client experiences and data insights to solve our clients\xe2\x80\x99 current and future challenges, as well as support team create strategic roadmaps for our technology ecosystem.

This opportunity is well-suited for an experienced applications Director able to develop and promote vision, strategies and roadmaps for execution and operations excellence of the evolving Cheque, Cash and Trade and Merchant Payments to enable modernization as well as strategic innovation. This strategy and roadmaps will ensure that the end-to-end digital solutions we create for our customers fulfil expectations, maintain ecosystem sustainability and are cost-effective. The role entails strategic and hands-on involvement in delivery and stability of a variety of technology solutions within digital ecosystem and delivered in agile fashion.

What will you do?

  • Provides vision, strategic direction and leadership in evolutionary implementation, maintenance and support of the Cash Application Portfolio: mix of internal and 3rd party applications providing critical services for RBC\xe2\x80\x99s Cash Centres across Canada.
  • Works directly with Cash Operations, Business and Technology Team leaders to enhance efficiency and effectiveness of Cash Services Program by delivering on strategic/transformational technology roadmap and integrate with common / enterprise wide technology solutions.. Leads the evaluation and adoption of new technologies.
  • Accountable for the successful delivery and quality of Cash software solutions that consists of full-time and contract team members.
  • Collaborates closely with Cash Operations and Business Team functional pillars for project governance, architecture and solution & quality engineering to accomplish solution delivery and department goals
  • Drive operational excellence through maintenance and support transformation in adopting modern engineering techniques and insight capabilities.
  • Success of this role is measured in terms of the predictable on-time delivery of quality solutions (products) that meet needs and priorities of Cash Service business, and are performed within a framework of financial accountability, controls and compliance. Solutions will align with the T&O Enterprise Technology standards
  • Lead, coach and develop highly skilled FTE and diverse IT professionals
  • Provide focus and clarity in establishing individual goals (Talent Link), drive performance by providing ongoing feedback (LIFT), support career development and reward strong performance.
What do you need to succeed?

Must Have:
  • Minimum Undergraduate Degree in a business or technical discipline or equivalent business experience
  • 7-10+ Years of technology leadership experience
  • A background doing software development with a variety of languages, technologies and architectures.
  • Possesses a working knowledge of range of development methodologies with a strong grasp of Agile practices.
  • Extensive experience managing and motivating technology teams
  • Experience with projects with high level of value ($1MM to $10MM+) and a high level of complexity and uncertainty
  • Professional with experience on multiple projects with multiple interfaces and/or 3rd party software packages
  • Extensive experience in the financial industry is a must.
  • Experience in Business Financial Services, Retail Banking and Payments.
