We have the perfect opportunity for you! Working closely with the wireless network lead and team, you will be responsible to operate and maintain process control network infrastructure for information technology industrial operations, mine engineering, mine operations and other partners.

Minimum Requirements:

Five years of experience in enterprise level IEEE 802.1, 802.11 network

Industry recognized certification, and/or accredited diploma/degree substantiating knowledge of 802.1/802.11

Experience with using Cisco WLC to install and administer Cisco wireless access points, Cisco routers, switches; VXLAN, vPC, VSS, QoS, CoS features

Experience with installing and administering WiFi, PtMP, and PtP infrastructure deployed in outdoor Mining industrial environment

Responsibilities:

Operate and maintain LAN infrastructure that is architected based on Purdue Enterprise Reference Architecture for industrial control systems. LAN comprised of, but not limited to: Cisco Routers, Switches, AP\xe2\x80\x99s, Firewalls, WLC\xe2\x80\x99s, Redline PtMP, Aviat Microwaves, Cisco and AVI client radios

Review any network/security monitoring alerts/triggers issues. Identify and resolve network/security problems. Configure and install LAN infrastructure

Coordinate, execute, analyze radio frequency surveys, and provide input into wireless geographic coverage for the Mine

Assess wireless performance/coverage, adjust radio channels, power parameters, and add/remove/relocate mobile radio trailers as required

Work with Mine Operations and various Suncor/Vendor support teams to review LAN infrastructure performance as it pertains to the mining operations. Action network activities as result of review

Location and other Key Details:

This role is a located at Fort Hills in northern Alberta\xe2\x80\x99s Athabasca region, 90 kilometres north of Fort McMurray. Working both indoor (typical office), and outdoor mining and industrial shop environments. You Fly in and Fly out (FIFO) from either Edmonton airport (YEG) or Calgary airport (YYC). Your work shift schedule will be a seven days on / seven days off rotation, 12 hours per day, Wednesday to Tuesday. Currently you work during daytime hours, but Suncor is currently evaluating the need for 24/7 support, and therefore this role may change to also work overnight. Example, work 6am-6pm for 7 days, then 7 days off work, then work 6pm-6am for 7 nights, continue this rotation. Tuesday evening you fly from Edmonton or Calgary to the Suncor Firebag airport (YFI), then bus to Logan Lodge (camp) which is located on the Fort Hills site. Wednesday 5:30-6am your work day starts in the office and ends 12 hours later. The following Tuesday at end of your work day you bus to Firebag airport, and then fly back to either Edmonton or Calgary. Suncor provides travel booking, and all flights are with WestJet. This position is safety sensitive as working in the mine environment is required. This role needs to be comfortable working outside

This position is security sensitive which requires you to clear a criminal history check

Valid drivers license is required and comfortable learning to drive in mining environment
