Food and Nutrition Services (Hospital) has an opportunity for a
DIETARY SYSTEMS SPECIALIST PERMANENT FULL TIME
75 Bi-Weekly Hours| Non-Union | Day Shifts
The Food and Nutrition Services Department at Baycrest provides service to clients in the Baycrest Centre, the Apotex Jewish Home for the Aged and Continuing Care Hospital. Our vision is to provide safe, appetizing food of optimum nutritional quality to facilitate an enjoyable mealtime experience for patients, residents, staff and visitors in compliance with the Jewish laws of Kashruth.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Ensures the menu and recipes encompass all Kashruth practices within the designated areas according to Baycrest’s Mission Statement, ethics standards of practice, values and strategic plan, ensuring that food and preparation are compliant with highest kosher dietary standards. Ensures that laws of Kashruth are adhered to within areas of responsibility and sensitive to diverse cultural needs.
• Maintains dietary software system. Including: Addition and Deletion of new and old items from the data base, sourcing nutritionals from manufacturers to link to items
• Accurately enter new recipes into the data base, update existing recipes and remove old ones
• Ensures purchasing Supervisor updates pricing on a regular basis so that accurate recipe costing/meal day costing is available
• Ensures full compliance with all necessary sanitation, safety, and food safety standards within areas of responsibility
• Ensures adherence to the Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice of the Canadian Society of Nutrition Management (‘CSNM’)/Ontario Society of Nutrition Management (‘OSNM’).

Qualifications include but are not limited to:

• Graduate of an approved Food & Nutrition Management or recognized equivalent is required
• Advance Food Handler’s Certification (City of Toronto or equivalent) is required.
• Member of the Canadian Society of Nutrition Management (‘CSNM’).
• Minimum of four (4) years experience in the use of Computrition Hospitality Suite and/or Food and Nutrition Software
• Previous experience in an institutional food service operation is preferred.
• Previous experience in a kosher establishment is preferred.
• Previous supervisory experience is preferred.
• Proficiency in the Microsoft suite of software, including MS Word, MS Excel.
• Excellent verbal, written and listening communication skills
• Effective client engagement and interpersonal skills.
• Good knowledge of Kashruth laws and practices.
• Ability to work effectively as a team member and independently to accomplish daily tasks.
