Position Title: Development Planner

Team and Location: Real Estate - Calgary, AB or Burnaby, BC

Position Summary:

The development planner will be responsible for the municipal planning & development of retail petroleum stations in Eastern Canada from initial concept to start of construction. They'll be leading internal (Real Estate, Construction, Marketing, Merchandizing) and external stakeholders (Municipal Planners, Land Developers, Landlords) through various phases of Retail Projects and accountable for quality, budget, schedule performance, customer satisfaction while driving municipal permit/zoning approvals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Providing project management for a variety of Retail Petroleum (Pioneer, FasGas, Chevron, Ultramar) development projects.
  • Advocating on behalf of the owner with internal and external stakeholders to ensure collaboration and understanding of the projects' vision:
  • Responsible for the commissioning and coordination of consultants for the production of plans and reports required for the submission and approval of Development Permit applications, including Site Plan & Building Permit approvals.
  • Delivering on committed deadlines of the planning process.
  • Create, manage and execute project schedules; ensure they are continually updated and communicated as required.
  • Provide support to the Project Team on various tasks as required. Lead some minor Capital Programs and other Project work as needed.
  • Work with Landlord's on implementing Parkland's standards for build to suite opportunities.
Qualifications and Skills:
  • Post secondary education in Urban Planning or relevant experience.
  • 2-5 years experience in planning & development or municipal urban planning.
  • Demonstrated excellent interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with internal/external stakeholders.
  • Ability to manage and perform multiple tasks and responsibilities concurrently in high-pressure environments.
  • Well organized, detail and goal oriented.
  • This role will extend from Ontario to BC, therefore some travel is required.
  • Bilingual in English and French strong asset.
