Your opportunity:

The Development Officer, Alumni and Leadership Giving will be an integral role as part of University Colleges\' Advancement team. This role will be tasked with the responsibility of identifying, cultivating, soliciting and stewarding donors at the Annual and Leadership Giving level (up to $50, 000). The incumbent will: develop and execute special fundraising campaigns, meet with donors to identify, cultivate and solicit for support and interest in the College; ensure proper stewardship of donations; preparing call reports, proposals, progress reports and prospect correspondence; collaborate with other members of the University\xe2\x80\x99s Advancement community to develop and execute strategies, and realize goals.

Your responsibilities will include:


  • Fostering and maintaining relationships with existing and potential donors
  • Delivering presentations outlining proposals to attract individual donors
  • Researching business trends and corporate sponsorship potential across other major universities
  • Providing feedback on the planning and implementation of fundraising campaigns
  • Developing marketing/communications strategies that support fundraising campaigns and programs
  • Writing project-specific proposals related to fundraising campaigns
  • Analyzing the effectiveness of campaigns and/or programs using metrics
  • Generating standard financial reports
Essential Qualifications:

  • Bachelor\'s Degree or acceptable combination of equivalent experience.
  • A minimum of five (5) years\xe2\x80\x99 recent experience in a fundraising role of which as least two years have been focused on leadership annual giving (LAG) with a proven track record of success.
  • Demonstrated successful experience with leadership annual giving (LAG)/ annual giving (gifts from $1,000 to $25,000).
  • Experience working with senior level volunteers.
  • Developing tailored fundraising initiatives that support strategic initiatives, including stewardship activities.
  • Demonstrated successful track-record in building and strengthening relationships with key donor contacts.
  • Experience working with Arbor or a similar database management system.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with a strong ability to influence and engage a wide range of donors as well as build and maintain long-term relationships; exceptional inter-personal skills; excellent presentation skills.
  • Strong computer skills with experience in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook), email and Internet.
  • A proven high level of integrity, donor confidentiality and discretion with sensitive information, tasks, and relationships.
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills.
  • Strong problem solving skills.
  • Must be able to multi-task and meet deadlines; and exercise accuracy and attention to detail.

  • Previous experience working in post-secondary or not for profit organization.
