Cabinet Effects is a full-service, design-driven custom cabinetry and millwork studio based in St. Clements, Ontario. We design, engineer, and manufacture high-quality custom kitchens, built-ins, and millwork projects with a high standard of craftsmanship and technical precision. As a growing company, we are expanding our engineering and drafting team to support increased project volume and ongoing investment in design technology and CNC-driven manufacturing.

We are looking for an experienced Designer / Engineer with strong Cabinet Vision expertise and a solid understanding of custom millwork construction. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys solving technical challenges, producing highly accurate drawings, and supporting a fast-paced custom woodworking environment.

Position Overview



The Designer / Engineer - Custom Cabinetry is responsible for preparing detailed Cabinet Vision drawings, engineering full project files, and supporting our senior engineering and production team. This includes creating shop drawings, machining-ready files, and manufacturing documentation used directly on the shop floor.

This is an

internal engineering role

-- no client-facing meetings required -- working closely with the owner, design team, and lead engineer.

Key Responsibilities



Produce detailed custom cabinetry drawings using

Cabinet Vision

Prepare engineering files, assemblies, cut lists, and shop drawings for CNC manufacturing Draft accurate construction packages for kitchens, vanities, built-ins, and custom millwork Support the lead engineer in preparing technical documentation for production Ensure all drawings meet internal standards for accuracy, hardware rules, and machining requirements Assist with optimization of Cabinet Vision libraries, materials, hardware, and parametric systems Generate supporting files for engineering workflows, including S2M and CNC-ready outputs (if applicable) Create or read supplemental 3D design files using

SketchUp

when required Collaborate with production & design staff to resolve technical questions or drawing revisions Maintain project accuracy through changes, updates, and coordination with the design team

Requirements (Required Skills)



3-5+ years of Cabinet Vision experience

(custom cabinetry or millwork environment)

Ability to prepare shop drawings for CNC manufacturing

Strong understanding of construction standards

: frameless, face-frame, inset Comfortable working with custom designs, non-standard sizes, and high-end millwork details High attention to detail and strong technical accuracy Ability to manage deadlines and work within a structured workflow Full-time onsite availability (St. Clements, ON)

Preferred Qualifications



These are valuable but not mandatory:

Knowledge of

parametric rules, machining standards, materials, and hardware libraries

Experience generating

cut lists, G-code, or S2M output

Experience with

WoodWOP

or similar CNC programming systems Background in

cabinetmaking or millwork fabrication

Strong problem-solving skills and comfort working with complex custom projects Familiarity with

SketchUp

for conceptual and design support
