The CAD Drafter/Designer is responsible for creating accurate shop drawings, layouts, and production files for custom cabinetry and millwork projects using
2020 Design, CAD
and
Mosaik
software. This role bridges the gap between design intent and production, ensuring that every project is accurately detailed, efficient to manufacture, and compliant with company standards.
Key Responsibilities
Produce
detailed 2D and 3D cabinetry drawings
using
2020 Design
and
Mosaik
software for residential and commercial projects.
Interpret architectural plans, client specifications, and design concepts to develop precise shop and installation drawings.
Generate
cut lists, material lists, and hardware schedules
directly from Mosaik for shop production.
Ensure drawings meet
manufacturing, assembly, and installation
requirements.
Work closely with project managers and shop personnel to clarify design details and resolve technical issues.
Update and revise drawings based on redlines or client changes.
Maintain company
CAD standards, templates, and part libraries
within 2020 and Mosaik.
Assist with
CNC output and file preparation
Support the estimating or design team with preliminary layouts and renderings when required.
Qualifications
Education & Experience:
Diploma or degree in Drafting, Architectural Technology, Industrial Design, or related field.
2-5 years of experience
in custom cabinetry, millwork, or casework drafting and design.
Proven experience with
2020 Design
and
Mosaik
(required).
Understanding of
cabinet construction methods, materials, and joinery
.
Technical Skills:
Proficiency in
2020 Design
and
Mosaik
for drafting, design, and production output.
Knowledge of
CNC processes
, nesting, and cutlist generation preferred.
Strong understanding of
woodworking materials, finishes, and hardware
.
Ability to interpret and produce detailed drawings from architectural and interior design documents.
Competency with
Microsoft Office
and other project coordination tools.
Soft Skills:
Excellent communication and collaboration with design, production, and installation teams.
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
Ability to manage multiple projects and meet tight deadlines.
Problem-solving mindset with a focus on accuracy and manufacturability.
Physical Requirements
Ability to work at a computer for extended periods.
Occasional visits to the production shop or job site as required.
Preferred (Not Required):
Experience with
custom kitchen, bath, and architectural millwork
projects.
Knowledge of
rendering or visualization tools
within 2020 for client presentations.
