As a Department Consultant you will support the Manager of Service Excellence and work as a team member in the General Manager\xe2\x80\x99s Office to fulfill the complex and evolving strategic and business needs of the Community Services department. Community Services connects and protects diverse individuals, communities, and businesses through strategies, education, programs, services, enforcement, and emergency response \xe2\x80\x93 directly and through partners. Primary duties include:

  • Coordinate, advise and, in some cases, lead Community Services involvement and response to corporate initiatives, processes and reporting related to Service Plans & Budgets and other initiatives, acting as a main conduit between corporate groups and Community Services leadership, which regularly requires access to confidential information.
  • Provide strategic support to the General Manager and senior leadership to advance departmental priorities, including projects that could impact structure, budgets, and services.
  • Triage and investigate emerging issues, make connections to strategic initiatives that span across the corporation and collaborate with other departments to identify opportunities for synergies.
  • Understand diverse subjects and advocate internally to ensure the unique operations of Community Services are fully reflected and considered in corporate strategies and processes.
  • Assist and, in some cases, manage Community Service\xe2\x80\x99s reports and presentations to Committee and Council.





Qualifications

  • A degree in social science, public administration or a related field with at least 8 years of progressive public service experience in policy and program development, project management, strategic planning OR

  • A graduate degree in social science, public administration, business or a related field with at least 4 years of public service experience in policy and program development, project management, strategic planning.

  • Experience in leading complex programs, working directly with and advising senior management, and facilitating leadership conversations.

  • Equivalent combinations of experience and education may be considered.

  • The ability to plan, prepare and present complex reports and presentations will be considered assets.

  • A collaborative team player with demonstrated success in leading change, developing metrics to improve organizational performance, deploying resources to achieve effective and efficient outcomes, and establishing and maintaining strong and positive working relationships with colleagues, clients, and/or elected officials.

  • Success in this position requires political acumen skills, strategic and critical thinking as well as creative problem-solving skills.

Compensation: Level E $79,059 - 119,373 per annum

Days of Work: This position works a 5 day
work week earning 1 day off in a 3 week cycle.




Hours of work: Standard 35 hour work week
