We are seeking a qualified, experienced, and passionate
Assistant Director
to support the daycare's leadership and operational functions under the direction of the Director.
Key Responsibilities:
As Assistant Director, you will work closely with the Director to ensure the smooth operation of all aspects of the daycare. Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
Assist the Director with the day-to-day operations of the daycare.
Ensure compliance with Alberta Child Care Licensing Regulations and health/safety standards.
Supervise staff and provide leadership, mentorship, and support.
Coordinate schedules, staff coverage, and classroom ratios.
Support the development and implementation of age-appropriate educational programming.
Promote a positive, inclusive, and culturally respectful learning environment.
Build strong relationships with families and communicate regularly about child development and programming.
Assist with registration, waitlists, child files, and attendance records.
Help resolve parent or staff concerns in a timely and professional manner.
Support administrative tasks, including daily communications and reporting.
Work collaboratively with the Director and management team on special projects or events.
Maintain documentation required for inspections and licensing renewals.
Promote center programs and help with enrollment strategies when required.
Write and administer grant(s) applications, funding opportunities, certifications, licensing, and accreditations.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications (Mandatory):
Early Childhood Educator Level III
Certification (as per Alberta Children's Services*)
Minimum of 3 years of experience
in a licensed childcare setting in a leadership or supervisory role
Understanding of early childhood development and best practices
Valid First Aid and CPR certification (Child Care Level)
Clear Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Search
Three professional references (must be contactable)
Class 5 Driver's License
Demonstrated flexibility and reliability in work hours and scheduling, including occasional extended or adjusted shifts as needed to support program operations
Applicants must be legally entitled to work in Canada (Proof of eligibility may be required at the time of hiring)

Salary & Benefits:
From: $18.00 per hour; based on experience
Alberta government wage enhancement (subsidy) in addition to base pay
Paid vacations depend on the length of service

Work Schedule:
This is a full-time position. Candidates must be available to work 40 hours per week in person at our Calgary location (4616 80 Ave NE, Calgary AB T3J 4B7). Typical working hours are Monday to Friday, with
occasional flexibility required
for special events or operational needs.
