Position Overview:



The

Early Childhood Specialist & Assistant Director (Hybrid Role)

at ADE Laval plays a dual role in ensuring the educational excellence and operational stability of our flagship private preschool. This is a leadership-level hybrid role that combines direct classroom leadership and coaching with early morning & afternoon administrative responsibilities to support the Director of Education.

ADE Laval's core team of six Early Childhood Specialists are recognized as network leaders and ambassadors of ADE's mission. They lead classrooms and drive educational excellence while contributing to network-wide leadership projects, training, and professional initiatives. Within this environment, the Assistant Director works closely under the supervision of the Director of Education, ensuring smooth daily operations and representing leadership when the Director of Education is not on-site.

This is a

full-time permanent & salaried role

with a fixed schedule and clear opportunities for professional growth within ADE's leadership pathway.

Core Responsibilities:



Educational Leadership & Classroom Teaching Role (approx. 50%)

Work directly in the classroom leading a group of children as a teaching Early Childhood Specialist. Provide coaching, modeling, and support to other educators to strengthen program quality. Pilot and implement new educational initiatives, ensuring ADE Laval sets the standard for innovation across the network. Build strong, trusting relationships with parents, offering communication and guidance on children's developmental progress.
Administrative & Operational Responsibilities (approx. 50%)

Support the Director of Education by taking on early morning & afternoon administrative duties. Oversee health and safety compliance, ensuring daily standards are consistently met. Manage staff scheduling, prepare and send out staff hours, and ensure alignment with approved time off, ratios, and budget. Monitor, track, and place supply and inventory orders within approved budgets. Respond to family inquiries and concerns in a timely, professional manner; escalate significant issues to the Director of Education. Report staff concerns directly to the Director of Education and redirect staff to appropriate supervisors when needed. Assist with logistics for school-wide events, parent initiatives, and workshops. Complete required documentation and reporting with oversight from the Director of Education. Contribute to network-wide projects and initiatives as assigned.
Leadership & Representation

Act as on-site leader when the Director of Education is not present (off-site meetings, vacation, days off). Provide direction and support to staff and families during those times, ensuring continuity of leadership and operational stability. Collaborate daily with the Director of Education to align on priorities, communication, and delegation. Represent ADE with professionalism and integrity at all times.
Professional Development & Growth

Participate in leadership coaching and professional development opportunities provided by ADE. Build administrative and leadership skills in preparation for potential future advancement. Serve as a model of professionalism, collaboration, and continuous learning within the educator team.

Work Schedule & Daily Flow:



Early Morning (7:30-9:00 AM): Administrative duties and opening the center alongside another Early Childhood Specialist. Mid-Morning until Lunch: Teaching and classroom responsibilities, ensuring smooth classroom operations through the morning program until nap. Afternoon until End of Day: Administrative responsibilities including scheduling, documentation, event planning, family communications, and leadership support.

Qualifications & Requirements:



Fully qualified educator status according to MFA DEC, AEC, or recognized equivalent in Early Childhood Education 5+ years of experience in a preschool or childcare setting (leadership experience an asset) First aid certification (8-hour daycare course including anaphylaxis) Police background check for vulnerable populations Strong knowledge of child development, classroom management, and inclusive practices Excellent communication, organizational and time management skills Proven ability to work collaboratively in a team and leadership capacity Bilingualism (English and French, written/spoken)

Compensation & Benefits:

Specialiste de la petite enfance & Directrice adjointe (Role hybride)

a l'ADE Laval joue un double role dans l'assurance de l'excellence educative et de la stabilite operationnelle de notre etablissement prive phare. Ce role hybride de niveau leadership combine des responsabilites directes en classe (enseignement et accompagnement pedagogique) ainsi que des responsabilites administratives en debut et en fin de journee, en appui a la Directrice de l'education.

L'equipe principale d'ADE Laval comprend six Specialistes de la petite enfance, reconnus comme leaders du reseau et ambassadeurs de la mission ADE. Ils dirigent des groupes d'enfants, assurent l'excellence educative et contribuent a des projets de leadership, formations et initiatives professionnelles a l'echelle du reseau. Dans ce contexte, la Directrice adjointe travaille en etroite collaboration et sous la supervision de la Directrice de l'education, afin d'assurer le bon fonctionnement quotidien et de representer la direction lorsque celle-ci n'est pas sur place.

Il s'agit d'un poste permanent a temps plein, remunere sur salaire, avec horaire fixe et de reelles perspectives de croissance professionnelle au sein du parcours de leadership d'ADE.

Responsabilites principales:



Leadership pedagogique & role d'enseignement en classe (environ 50 %)

Assurer directement la gestion et l'enseignement d'un groupe d'enfants en tant que Specialiste de la petite enfance. Offrir du mentorat, du modelage et du soutien aux autres educateurs afin d'ameliorer la qualite du programme. Mettre en oeuvre et tester de nouvelles initiatives educatives, en veillant a ce qu'ADE Laval etablisse la norme d'innovation a l'echelle du reseau. Developper des relations de confiance avec les parents, en assurant une communication reguliere et un accompagnement sur le developpement de leur enfant.
Responsabilites administratives & operationnelles (environ 50 %)

Appuyer la Directrice de l'education en assumant des taches administratives en debut et en fin de journee. Veiller au respect des normes de sante et securite et assurer leur application quotidienne. Gerer les horaires du personnel, preparer et transmettre les heures travaillees, en s'assurant de l'alignement avec les conges, les ratios et le budget approuves. Suivre, gerer et effectuer les commandes de materiel et de fournitures, en respectant les budgets approuves. Repondre aux demandes et preoccupations des familles de maniere professionnelle et rapide; signaler les enjeux majeurs a la Directrice de l'education. Transmettre toute preoccupation concernant le personnel directement a la Directrice de l'education et reorienter les employes vers les superviseurs appropries au besoin. Soutenir la logistique des evenements de l'etablissement, des initiatives avec les parents et des ateliers. Completer la documentation et les rapports requis, sous la supervision de la Directrice de l'education. Contribuer aux projets et initiatives du reseau selon les mandats recus.
Leadership & representation

Assurer la direction sur place lorsque la Directrice de l'education est absente (reunions a l'exterieur, vacances, conges). Fournir orientation et soutien au personnel et aux familles durant ces periodes, garantissant la continuite et la stabilite operationnelle. Collaborer quotidiennement avec la Directrice de l'education afin d'assurer la clarte des priorites, communications et delegations. Representer ADE avec professionnalisme et integrite en tout temps.
Developpement professionnel & croissance

Participer aux seances de coaching en leadership et aux formations professionnelles offertes par ADE. Developper des competences administratives et de gestion en vue de futures possibilites d'avancement. Servir de modele de professionnalisme, de collaboration et d'apprentissage continu aupres de l'equipe educative.

Horaire de travail & deroulement quotidien:



Debut de journee (7 h 30 - 9 h 00):

Taches administratives et ouverture du centre avec une autre Specialiste de la petite enfance.

Matinee jusqu'au diner:

Responsabilites pedagogiques et enseignement en classe, assurant le bon deroulement du programme du matin jusqu'a la sieste.

Apres-midi jusqu'a la fermeture:

Responsabilites administratives incluant planification des horaires, documentation, organisation d'evenements, communications avec les familles et soutien a la direction.

Qualifications & exigences:



Statut d'educatrice qualifiee selon le MFA DEC, AEC ou equivalent reconnu en education a la petite enfance Minimum 5 ans d'experience en milieu prescolaire ou en service de garde (experience en leadership un atout) Certificat de premiers soins (formation de 8 heures incluant l'anaphylaxie pour les services de garde) Verification d'antecedents judiciaires pour populations vulnerables Solide connaissance du developpement de l'enfant, de la gestion de classe et des pratiques inclusives Excellentes aptitudes en communication, organisation et gestion du temps Capacite demontree a collaborer efficacement au sein d'une equipe et dans un role de leadership Bilinguisme (francais et anglais, parle et ecrit)

Remuneration & avantages:
