and is one of the many Easter Seals Canada jurisdictions.

Approximately 100,000 people of all ages in our province live with disabilities

such as physical, sensory, cognitive, or other disabilities

which present barriers to full participation in society.

It is our mission to tear down these barriers and build an inclusive Newfoundland and Labrador.

Day Camp Counsellor



Easter Seals NL is seeking a full-time Seasonal Day Camp Counsellor to join our Recreation team. This person will be responsible for implementing, delivering, and providing care within our summer day camp program, for people of all ages with disabilities.



REQUIREMENTS:



Understanding of and experience with:

Experience in frontline delivery and program leadership. Program preparation and implementation. Frontline administration and documentation for weekly summer camps. Experience working with people of all ages and people with disabilities.

Skills:

Strong group facilitation and public speaking and group facilitation skills. Strengths in teamwork, group engagement, and leadership. Strengths in time management and organization.

Provide Direct Personal Care:

Training provided

Provide hands-on support with daily living tasks, including personal hygiene, dressing, and mobility assistance. Assist with meal preparation, feeding, and meeting individuals' nutritional needs. Support toileting and incontinence care, ensuring dignity and privacy. Monitor and assist with medication reminders as needed (under appropriate supervision and in accordance with established guidelines).

Attributes:

Ability to work in a fast-paced and busy environment. Ability to build professional relationships with community members, co-workers, volunteers, families, and participants. Willingness to break out of your shells to sing campfire songs and have lively fun conversations with the families and participants. Ability to communicate and work with groups and provide instruction to program registrants, campers, and staff.

Background:

Education in recreation or related fields. Experience delivering group programs or camps. Experience working with or caring for people with disabilities. Experience working with people with additional behaviour needs.

ASSETS:



Experience working in the camp environment. Experience working with people living with disabilities and behavioural needs. Experience adapting programs or activities. Experience performing personal care or respite care.

ACCOUNTABILITIES:



Support the delivery of a variety of adapted camp programs for youth Maintain accurate and current records of program attendance and weekly tracking. Provide daily personal care and behaviour support for individual campers as needed. Ensuring a safe and inclusive environment for all participants and families to feel comfortable and enjoy our activities and space. Assist with building and equipment preparation for program delivery and building operations. Complete daily site checks, cleaning, and sanitizing.

Job Type: Full-time Contractual



Salary: Starting $16.50/hour



First Aid Certificates, Criminal Records, and Vulnerable Sector Checks will be included in the hiring process.
