You will be part of a team that provides children, youth, and adults of all ages reach their goals and feel a sense of belonging to their community.The OpportunityWe are hiring for a number of positions to support the operation of our Summer Day Camps at six (6) sites, the Community YMCA, John W. Lindsay YMCA, NSCC Akerley Campus, Fort Massey United Church, South Woodside Community Centre, and Rockingham United Church. YMCA Day Camp staff are responsible for providing a safe, fun, inclusive environment for kids.Responsibilities

• Supervision: Ensure the safety and well-being of campers during all activities.
• Activity Planning: Organize and lead age-appropriate games, crafts, and other activities to engage and entertain the children.
• Guidance and Support: Offer support and guidance to campers, helping them navigate social interactions and conflicts.
• Communication: Maintain open communication with parents, providing updates on their child\'s experiences and addressing any concerns.
• Teamwork: Collaborate with fellow counselors and camp staff to create a positive and inclusive camp environment.
• Safety: Enforce camp safety rules and procedures, including first aid and emergency response protocols.
• Role Modeling: Demonstrate positive behavior and attitudes for campers, acting as a role model for appropriate conduct.
• Adaptability: Be flexible and adaptable to handle unexpected situations and changes in the daily schedule.
• Inclusion: Foster an inclusive environment that respects and celebrates diversity among campers.
• Fun and Creativity: Infuse a sense of fun and creativity into the camp experience to make it enjoyable for all participants.

Qualifications & Skills

• High School diploma, or equivalent combination of education and experience, with a strong reference
• Previous experience working with children and youth
• Demonstrated success in planning/organizing games, sports, arts, crafts, cultural activities, lead field trips, etc.
• Demonstrated cross-cultural communication skills to work with youth, parents, and staff
• Demonstrated ability to meet multiple, competing deadlines and priorities
• Strong attention to detail
• Excellent verbal, written, and presentation/workshop facilitation skills
• Strong interpersonal skills

Conditions of Employment

• A clear Child Abuse Register Check
• A current and satisfactory Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Check (must be dated less than 6 months from hire date)
• Completion of YMCA\xe2\x80\x99s Child Safety & Protection Orientation within first week of employment
• Completion of YMCA Child Safeguarding Training within probationary period
• A valid First Aid and CPR certificate if required for the role
