The Faculty of Applied Science & Engineering\'s Professional Experience Year (PEY) Co-op, the Faculty of Art & Science\'s Arts & Science Internship Program (ASIP), the University of Toronto Scarborough\'s Arts & Science Co-op and Management Co-op programs facilitate co-op and internship opportunities for more than 3,500 students from over 100 academic programs annually. These programs allow students to apply their academic learning in a real-world context, build valuable professional networks and skills, and explore career options. The four programs have formed a unique collaborative partnership called the Tri-Campus Co-op Partnership (TCP) that amplifies the strengths of the four programs, provides a seamless recruiting experience for employers, and expand the depth and breadth of work term opportunities available to TCP co-op and internship students.

With the Tri-Campus Co-op Partnership (TCP) being in the early building phase, you will have a unique and exciting opportunity to be directly involved in forging something brand new at the University of Toronto. You\'ll be directly involved from the ground up as we develop a solid and sustainable partnership that ensures our students have access to a wide range of co-op roles in a variety of industries and our employer partners have easy access to hiring our talented U of T Co-op students.

Reporting to the Director, Tri-Campus Partnership (TCP), the Data & Systems Lead will oversee and administer the shared technology systems across TCP, integrations with other platforms and optimization of the technology. They will work closely with representatives from the individual units to understand their unique needs and how the shared technology can support them while also addressing the collective business needs and processes of the TCP as a whole. The Data & Systems Lead will also be responsible for developing information management methods to optimize the use of data, developing and implementing data integrity protocols and ensuring that all databases are built and maintained for optimal use and data collection. A key responsibility of the role will also be the development and publishing of consistent data reporting dashboards that report on various cross-TCP elements such as recruitment cycle activity and conversion, service standard delivery, student and employer activity and analysis of information depicted various ways such as by sector, unit and geography.

The incumbent will lead working groups with representation from the TCP units, weaving together the data management, data reporting and systems needs of each unit into a cohesive strategy that ensures optimization of workflow, data and systems.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Developing information management methods in order to optimize the use of data
  • Assessing and determining methodologies for data retrieval and manipulation
  • Developing and maintaining components of data auditing programs for quality assurance purposes
  • Developing and maintaining a dashboard for quick access to key performance indicators
  • Producing complex statistical information
  • Evaluating new technologies or new and modified businesses processes to determine enhancement requirements
  • Conducting needs assessments to determine end-user technical requirements
  • Making recommendations on suitability of major system refinements and upgrades
Essential Qualifications:
  • Master\'s Degree in a related discipline or an acceptable equivalent combination of education and recent experience.
  • Minimum five years relevant work experience in the areas of system administration, data/information management, data visualization and reporting, and/or projects associated with optimizing technology to meet business needs, preferably in the area of Work Integrated Learning in a Higher Education setting
  • Demonstrated work experience in a multi-stakeholder environment; ability to work diplomatically, collaboratively and motivate groups
  • Experience managing/coordinating multiple phases and aspects of a project
  • Demonstrated experience in administering and optimizing software systems to meet business needs
  • Strong numeric and analytical skills with an ability to mine complex data sets, identify trends, develop new metrics based on data-driven insights
  • Solid understanding of the principles of effective data visualization
  • Ability to consolidate information from multiple sources and understand the underlying nuances
  • Experience in implementing procedures to analyze and maintain strong data integrity
  • Demonstrated proficiency with advanced functionality in spreadsheet software (e.g. Excel)
  • Excellent working knowledge of MS Office suite of products (Excel, Word, and Power Point) and databases
  • Good judgement, tact and discretion and able to resolve issues, problems and competing priorities
  • Strong customer service orientation and ability to effectively balance the needs of multiple stakeholders
  • Strong listening skills, seeking to understand and consider all perspectives, angles and potential ripple effects when creating and implementing plans
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team and relate to and collaborate with all levels of staff
  • Ability to maintain discretion when dealing with sensitive and/or confidential information
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills with an ability to present and discuss complex information in a way that establishes rapport, persuades others and gains understanding
  • Ability to work with team members in amanner that facilitates cooperation and consensus

Assets (Nonessential):
  • PMP certification or formal Project Management training
  • Experience developing data visualizations using Tableau (or similar) dashboards for higher education
  • Working knowledge of University of Toronto systems
  • Experience working in a Co-operative Education department at a higher education institution
