Overview:
Sefina Industries Limited is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Custom High-Volume Millwork Paint Shop Production Manager for its Montreal, Canada production facility. This individual will be reporting directly to the Production Director and will be responsible for managing the paint and finishing operations of custom millwork products, including manual lines, automated lines and robotics lines. The ideal candidate will ensure high standards of quality, timely production, and efficient use of resources while managing a team in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Paint Shop Leadership:
Manage the daily operations of the paint shop, overseeing a team of finishers and paint technicians to ensure the timely and high-quality finishing of all millwork products.
Production Scheduling:
Coordinate production schedules in collaboration with the production team to ensure paint jobs are completed efficiently and align with overall project timelines.
Quality Control:
Implement and enforce quality control measures for paint and finishing processes to meet Safina Industries' rigorous standards for craftsmanship and client specifications.
Process Optimization:
Continuously evaluate and improve painting processes, including surface preparation, application techniques, drying times, and material usage, to optimize efficiency and reduce waste.
Equipment Management:
Oversee the operation and maintenance of all paint shop equipment, including automated paint lines (e.g., Cefla), sprayers, and finishing tools, ensuring they are functioning optimally and safely.
Safety and Compliance:
Ensure all paint shop activities comply with health, safety, and environmental regulations, including proper ventilation, material handling, and waste disposal procedures.
Team Development:
Train, mentor, and develop paint shop personnel, promoting a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement within the team.
Material Management:
Manage inventory of paint, coatings, stains, and other finishing supplies, ensuring availability while minimizing excess stock. Coordinate with suppliers for replenishment as needed.
Reporting:
Track and report on paint shop performance metrics, including production output, material usage, and labor costs. Provide regular updates to senior management on shop performance.
Cost Efficiency:
Work closely with the finance and procurement teams to monitor and control the costs associated with paint and finishing operations, balancing budget adherence with maintaining high-quality standards.
Key Qualifications:
Experience:
Minimum of 5-7 years in a production or paint shop management role, ideally in the custom millwork or woodworking industry with a focus on high-volume environments.
Technical Knowledge:
Strong understanding of paint shop processes, including surface preparation, application methods, automated paint line operations (e.g., Cefla), and various finishing techniques such as staining, lacquering, and varnishing.
Leadership Skills:
Proven ability to manage and motivate a team of paint shop staff, with a focus on efficiency, quality, and safety.
Problem-Solving:
Excellent troubleshooting skills, with the ability to address and resolve technical challenges in the paint and finishing process.
Attention to Detail:
Keen eye for detail to ensure the highest quality finishes on all custom millwork products.
Communication Skills:
Strong verbal and written communication skills, capable of coordinating with other departments, suppliers, and clients.
Education:
Relevant certification or degree in industrial production, finishing technology, or a related field is preferred.
Software Proficiency:
Familiarity with production management and inventory control software, as well as basic proficiency in Microsoft Office.
