Job Summary
A unique opportunity to contribute to the administration of justice in a challenging legal environment Court Services Branch is in need of an enthusiastic and professional individual to provide administrative support to the Provincial Court and to interact with a diverse group of stakeholders.

We are looking for an enthusiastic individual who exemplify the corporate values of the BC Public Service to join our team as a Court/Registry Clerk. In your role as a Court/Registry Clerk, you will be responsible for providing court clerk services to the Court and provide administrative assistance within the Registry. Responsibilities include providing administrative support to the civil and/or criminal courts in the processing of documentation required by the court system to accurately reflect court results. You maintain court files ensuring integrity of case data in the case tracking systems. You will also provide case information to all users of the court system. This position also provides financial, administrative support and counter services (with limited signing authorities) to support the Provincial Court.

Job Requirements:

  • Secondary school graduation or equivalent (GED).
  • A minimum of two years experience working in an office environment OR 2 years combination of customer service, clerical duties, office experience and education.
  • A minimum of one year experience in keyboarding, data entry, word processing, standard computer applications and software programs (e.g. Windows, MS Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Must have a minimum of 40 WPM keyboarding/typing.

Preference may be given to candidates with:
  • Experience in Court Programs and Applications (JUSTIN, CEIS, ARC, CTAS, CCD)
  • Experience with delivering Customer Service.
  • Experience as a court clerk and/or registry clerk.
  • 1 year of previous work experience in a legal environment.
  • Experience in accounting services.

Provisos:
  • Attendance and completion of relevant training is required.
  • May be required to work flexible hours, including varied shifts and overtime on short notice.
  • May be required to travel, including travel in adverse weather conditions and work in other geographic areas, including circuit court locations.
  • Must have reliable transportation and/or be willing to travel with others.
  • Must be able to lift heavy objects up to 30 lbs.
