Job Summary

Court Services Branch operates in 89 locations throughout the province and is divided into five regions: Vancouver Island, Vancouver Coastal, Fraser, Interior and North. It is further organised into three divisions including Court Administration, Sheriff Service and Headquarters. The Branch delivers services in person, by telephone, virtually and online.

BC Sheriff Service is responsible for:

  • courthouse and courtroom security
  • prisoner custody and transport
  • document service
  • jury administration

The Sheriff Provincial Support Team provides administrative support to the BC Sheriff Services various provincial programs. The SPST Administrators will be responsible for receiving, reviewing and validating incoming submissions and clarifying information with the public and other stakeholders. These positions will also make initial determinations or recommendations within established criteria and guidelines.

Job Requirements:
  • Grade 12 graduation or equivalent.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of administrative/clerical experience (achieved within the last 3 years) in a high volume office setting.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of computer experience with database applications entering, tracking, and monitoring data, generating word documents and reports.

Preference may be given to applicants with one or more of the following:
  • Experience providing client service.
  • Experience applying legislation and regulations.
  • Experience with JUSTIN.

WILLINGNESS STATEMENT:
  • This role requires flexible work hours, including various shifts and overtime on short notice.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
  • Ability to lift heavy filing boxes and office supplies
  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time
