IO\xe2\x80\x99s Finance, Technology, and Lending Enterprise Team ensures that IO is a financially efficient and effectively managed organization and that the agency\xe2\x80\x99s finances are monitored, reported, and managed appropriately. The team also manages the infrastructure lending program, which has supported more than $18 billion in local infrastructure development, and IO\xe2\x80\x99s Information Technology and Business Services, providing tools and systems to ensure secure, effective, and efficient operations.

POSITION PURPOSE



To contribute to the maintenance of a low credit risk profile throughout the loan portfolio, achieved principally through adherence to the functions and responsibilities as recited below.

What You Will Be Doing:

  • KEY FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES



Review loan applications for new loans, annual reviews and amendments to existing loans, fulfilling the role of a second line of defense against credit risk behind underwriter analysis and due diligence.
  • Conduct a thorough analysis of loan applications including the accurate completion of risk modeling
  • Document credit application review through the completion of detailed and concise memorandums to the Vice President Credit Risk
  • Work with colleagues in loan underwriting, loan operations and legal department throughout the due diligence process
  • Present loan applications to the Credit Review Committee
  • Ensure records of all review and approval activity including Credit Review Committee minutes are consistent guidelines
  • Ensure that authorization details are reported to legal department and duly incorporated in the Financing Agreement



Perform credit portfolio monitoring and reporting including recording of covenant compliance and document management.
  • Measure and record borrower compliance to financial loan covenants for outstanding loans on an ongoing basis
  • Address borrower non-compliance via quarterly portfolio reporting and consideration of escalation of loans
  • Contribute to the preparation of monitoring reports of the loan portfolio
  • Responsible for document management to support credit reviews and reporting of credit risks
  • Contribute to building and maintenance of the credit management database



Direct file management of Watch List or higher risk loans, as assigned.
  • Manage Watch List borrower relationships
  • Liaise with borrower management and assisting professionals to facilitate completion of analysis of borrower risk factors and options to restore risk profile to acceptable level
  • Negotiate corrective plans with Watch List borrowers as required, monitor progress, and address variances
  • Contribute to quarterly Watch List reporting for loans under direct management



Contribute to the expansion and refinement of credit policy and guidelines, and general department procedures

  • Complete periodic review and updating of sector credit policy and guidelines, including risk rating protocol
  • Identify and/or support opportunities for increased efficiency in department workflow
  • Complete documentation of department workflow and procedures

What We Are Looking For:

  • Education and knowledge
  • University degree in Finance, Business, Accounting, Economics or equivalent is an asset
  • A good understanding of key financial and risk management theories, principals, and practices



Experience
  • Few years\' of commercial lending transaction experience in a client-facing role, ideally including commercial real estate and/or infrastructure project financing
  • Demonstrated business acumen with experience working with clients and stakeholders
  • Knowledge and experience with commercial lending practices of municipalities, the energy sector, assisted living, long term care or social housing sectors is an asset



Skills and personal attributes
  • Strong acuity for business models and business risk assessment, and an ability to conduct financial statement and ratio analysis.
  • Ability to set individual objectives, work independently and collaborate with others in order to accomplish goals.
  • Excellent analytical and research skills to organize and draw conclusions from complex, ambiguous and often fragmented information.
  • Able to present complex concepts in a clear, cogent and intelligible manner, both by way of written reports and verbal presentations.
  • Able to manage engagements with underwriting colleagues and external parties in a cordial, tactical and productive manner.
  • Proficient in the Microsoft Office suite of products.

The salary range for this position is $78,000 to $116,900 with a corresponding job level of P4
