The TD Insurance Risk Management (TDIRM) function provides independent oversight and governance with respect to TDI's risk management. TDIRM's accountabilities follow the TD Risk Management Mandate and in addition, TDIRM is accountable to the TD Insurance Risk Committee (TDI RC), supporting subcommittees, and the TD Insurance Board of Directors (TDI BoD) with respect to the identification, assessment, measurement, control, monitoring and reporting risk management activities.

The Risk Specialist will report to the Senior Manager, TD Insurance Risk Management. This role is a second line of defense function responsible for providing operational risk management oversight and challenge to the Next Evolution of Work (NEW) Journeys within TD Insurance, while ensuring the TDBG ORM Framework, Enterprise Change Governance Framework/ Standard and related activities are implemented and executed. In addition, this role may also provide additional support to the TDI Enterprise Risk Management and Operational Risk Management Teams.

Journeys are dedicated cross-functional teams focused on delivering end-to-end customer experiences. The Next Evolution of Work is a multiyear enterprise initiative setup to simplify the operating model & increase operating efficiencies, empower talent and increase the focus on our customers.

The successful candidate will play a key role in overseeing the TD Insurance Journeys as part of the NEW transformation in alignment with second line mandate as stipulated in the TD Scaled Agility (TDSA) requirements, Enterprise Change Governance Framework and Standard, among others. The position will also consult on business initiatives, with the focus on identifying, challenging, and escalating risk issues and assisting the business in creating and implementing solutions that ensure risks are understood and managed within the bank's Risk Appetite.

The specific accountabilities include the following:
  • Provide second line oversight on TDI Journeys as part of the Next Evolution of Work (NEW) Transformation.
  • Develop, champion, challenge and continuously enhance the risk culture and risk practices with TDI Journeys
  • Provide guidance and consultation to the business while remaining an independent risk professional.
  • Participate in key business initiatives and projects to provide effective challenge over the identification, assessment, escalation, and mitigation of key operational risks.
  • Provide strong liaison and alignment with federated partners, including, but not limited to: Platform, Segment & Corporate Operational Risk Management (ORM) teams, Enterprise Risk Management (ERM), Internal Auditors, Compliance, Global Anti-Money Laundering (GAML), Privacy, Legal, Fraud Risk Management (FRM), Enterprise Protect, Enterprise Data Governance Office (EDGO), etc.
  • Keep abreast of emerging issues, trends and evolving regulatory requirements which would have impact to TD Insurance.
  • Provide timely communication, training, tools, and support to the business for adherence to Enterprise Change Governance Framework policies and program requirements.
  • Provide guidance on the identification, measurement, management, and reporting of Delivery risk exposures within the business.
  • Support business partners in the development of risk policies, procedures, and training programs to facilitate compliance with internal risk and regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure that all matters relating to material risks are communicated, reported, and escalated.
  • Provide additional support to the TDI Enterprise Risk Management and Operational Risk Management Teams on an as needed basis, as well as other duties as assigned.
