What is the opportunity?

The Canadian Risk Solutions Group (RSG) is responsible for providing strategies to hedge Foreign Exchange risk to Canadian-based clients. The team offers tailored hedging solutions for each client's needs and leverages on RBC's robust execution capabilities to maximize hedge effectiveness and unlock value for clients. The Toronto RSG candidate will be primarily responsible for providing currency hedging solutions to Toronto Mid-Market / Corporate Client Group (CCG) clients, with a secondary focus on furthering RBC's cross-asset mandate (FX and interest rates)

The current job opening offers an opportunity to develop a broad range of professional skills through assisting the RSG team on multi-facet client needs and projects. The RSG Mid-Market FX team is looking for an Analyst who will primarily focus on the Mid-Market FX business and assist the broader Mid-Market Rates RSG team. This includes providing assistance in all aspects of the business, from managing the marketing and origination of hedging strategies to pricing and execution of currency derivatives. As part of the broader Risk Solutions Group, the candidate will be exposed to interest rate and commodities risk management as well.

This opportunity is for the Analyst level. The successful candidate must be located or be willing to relocate to Toronto.

What will you do?

Prepare client pitch materials, analytical tools and sales presentations to expand relationships with existing clients, internal partners, and/or to target new clients

Contribute to expanding the CCG FX business, with indirect client coverage responsibilities

Responsible for trade modeling, pricing, execution, booking and related processing of currency derivatives

Work closely with the team as a key client contact, providing currency risk management advice and education sessions

Liaising with multiple parts of the bank (Canadian Banking, Risk Management, Trading, Structuring, Resource Management Group, and others) and external counterparties at all points of the currency derivative trade lifecycle

Structure and price trades in compliance with established credit limit protocol, facilitating client needs

Assigned duties consistent with the growth of the Canadian Derivatives business, ensuring that dealings with all counterparties and stakeholders are strictly confidential and fairly handled

Follow macroeconomic and market developments and synthesize the information into concise updates to be shared both internally and externally

What do you need to succeed?

BA, BComm, or related degree required

1+ years of relevant work/ co-op experience

A good understanding of financial markets and the willingness to learn; prior work or related experience with derivatives is preferred/an asset though not required

Exceptional communication skills, written and oral, with the ability to effectively interact with and educate clients and key stakeholders at all levels on financial markets and derivatives

The ability to simplify complex problems, financial derivatives, and analysis into straightforward, easy-to-understand concepts and language

Ability to prioritize and manage a large workload in a high-pressure environment, working with multiple people while balancing priorities

High level of numeracy, financial modeling and analytical ability

Ability to take initiative and function independently, balanced with strong team skills

Willingness and ability to adopt a flexible approach and respond to ad hoc requests in a timely manner

Highly proficient in Microsoft Office - Excel, PowerPoint & Word

Excellent interpersonal skills
