Job Description


THE OPPORTUNITY The Credit Analyst is responsible for the effective and timely adjudication of customer loan applications while ensuring a high level of service is delivered. The role performs ongoing comprehensive customer credit analyses and write-ups by thoroughly and accurately analyzing customers credit history, understanding and interpreting loan applications, and utilizing commercial credit bureaus to make individual commercial loan recommendations that meet company policies and guidelines. This role works with a significant daily volume of loan applications. The Credit Analyst is required to obtain missing and/or confirm existing customer information on loan applications with a strong focus on minimizing losses from credit fraud. THE ROLE

  • Write a detailed analysis of the customer and their business, focusing on capacity to pay, cash flow coverage and unusual items noted on their financial statements
  • Analyze credit reports and financial statements and verify values for used equipment
  • Analyze customer loan applications and determine customer affordability by reviewing customer credit history, employment and income according to established guidelines
  • Perform credit analysis and write-ups for submission
  • Perform structured and analytic functions on loan applications through the company\xe2\x80\x99s credit decisioning system
  • Manage the application process to improve speed, quality and compliance
  • Ensure customer loan applications are properly and accurately investigated, evaluated and documented
  • Conduct analysis to support pricing and/or fee recommendations for loan applications
  • Complete risk assessments and develop recommendations as to the appropriate course action for customer loan applications
  • Follow up on outstanding loan related information and manage the credit review process for assigned loan applications
  • Monitor and approve or recommend loan application exceptions and overrides
  • Analyze all aspects of a situation to gain thorough insight to make decisions and identify key components of a problem to formulate a solution or solutions
  • Report and escalate any unusual occurrences or fraudulent activities in the loan application process per established procedures
  • Seek or clarify information regarding loan application documentation in a professional and efficient manner
  • Forward exception credit situations to the Manager, Credit as needed for speedy and equitable resolution

  • High self-management capabilities

  • Advanced skills with Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint
  • 3+ years of relevant commercial credit adjudication experience
  • Intermediate skills in financial statement analysis
  • Post-secondary diploma or bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree is an asset
