Position Overview

The Police Administration Department requires an auxiliary Court Liaison Officer.


Responsibilities
You will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy and completeness of prosecution reports, expediting same to Crown Counsels, and the efficient processing of persons through the criminal justice system. You will liaise with a variety of internal and external contacts, including Federal and Provincial Crown Counsels, other federal provincial and municipal agencies on matters related to the criminal case management process. You will also provide direction to RCMP members on proper usage and completion of forms; securing for court purposes all necessary details, evidence and statements to prove charges; as well as apprising members on case law and policy directives.


Requirements
You will have considerable knowledge of the criminal justice system and court procedures, including evidentiary requirements, law enforcement practices, investigational procedures, the Criminal Code of Canada, and applicable Federal and Provincial statues and Municipal by-laws; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Strong interpersonal skills are essential. Considerable experience with police computer systems and word processing applications is required, along with a valid Class 5 BC Driver\xe2\x80\x99s License. Previous policing background in varied roles and leadership experience would be assets.


Compensation

$37.92 to $44.78 per hour
(Pay Grade 24 \xe2\x80\x93 January 2021 rates)


Hours of Work
Auxiliary; days and hours may vary


Additional Information
You will be required to obtain and maintain an RCMP security clearance as a condition of ongoing employment.
