Costing Analyst (Contract Position) - Orbis Risk Consulting

Position Overview:
Orbis Risk Consulting is seeking a Costing Analyst on a contract basis to join our team. The Costing Analyst will support our First Nation clients who are seeking to grow the capacity of their community governments. The Costing Analyst supports these clients by conducting research, developing costing models, and preparing funding proposals in the areas of health, social services, education, housing and public infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct in-depth research to gather financial, operational, and contextual data for developing accurate costing models.
Develop and maintain costing models tailored to the specific requirements of First Nation projects and funding opportunities.
Prepare costing research papers and costing reports to present cost estimates, supporting research and analysis for new First Nation programs and projects.
Collaborate with clients to understand project objectives, constraints, and funding needs.
Prepare detailed funding proposals, ensuring alignment with client objectives and funding agency requirements.
Analyze financial and budgetary data, including variance analysis, to support decision-making.
Monitor and update cost models and funding proposals based on feedback or changes in project scope.
Train and support clients in understanding and utilizing developed financial tools and reports.
Provide regular updates to internal teams and clients on project progress and financial insights.
Coordinate proposal development processes and prepare required documentation to support proposals.
Participate in special projects and initiatives to enhance the firm's service offerings.
Educational and Experience Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Econometrics or a related field.
Relevant professional designation such as CPA or CFA is an asset.
Fluency in English language is essential, oral and written.
Experience in financial analysis, costing, or business modeling, ideally within a consulting environment is preferable, but not mandatory.
Demonstrated experience working with First Nation communities or on projects involving Indigenous organizations is an asset, is preferable, but not mandatory.
Advanced proficiency in financial software and tools, including Excel (macros, pivot tables, VBA) and ERP systems.
Strong knowledge of costing methodologies, budget preparation, and financial reporting.
Experience in developing and delivering high-quality funding proposals.

Job Location
Applicants located anywhere within 6 hours driving distance to Sudbury, Ontario are invited to apply. Work location will principally be from your home office with occasional travel to First Nation clients in the Sudbury to Sault Ste. Marie corridor. If working in Ottawa, you will have access to an office in the Westboro area.
Compensation
$25 - $35/hr., commensurate with individual qualifications and experience. The contract work could lead to full-time employment. Our full-time staff are eligible for group benefits and pension.
