Job Overview


The Senior Marketing Communications Specialist is responsible for leading the development and execution of marketing communications plans and strategies, and for embodying our company\'s values and culture. They will do so through multichannel advertising campaigns and integrated marketing communications, with a strong focus on promoting a positive and inclusive experience for all Wawanesa Life members. This role is not just about marketing life insurance products; it\'s about making a meaningful difference in people\'s lives through delivering the security and protection they deserve. The Senior Marketing Communications Specialist is motivated, creative, and highly adaptable, and they thrive in a collaborative and supportive environment. This role works directly and maintains deep relationships with stakeholders within the Wawanesa Life company and throughout Wawanesa in Products, Business Development, Member and Broker Experience, Claims, Legal, and Compliance to consistently embed feedback, data, and new thinking into Wawanesa\xe2\x80\x99s product marketing initiatives.
Job Responsibilities
  • Drive the development and management of marketing communications plans and strategies for Wawanesa Life and its cross-sell initiatives with Wawanesa\xe2\x80\x99s property and casualty operations.
  • Promote a culture of teamwork and open communication within the Marketing department and across other functional teams.
  • Lead life insurance marketing strategy initiatives by providing product positioning recommendations, identifying appropriate media channels and tone for target audiences.
  • Provide creative direction for high impact marketing communications projects, such as product launches, advertising campaigns, customer communications and promotional events.
  • Manage creative and content development for multichannel marketing communication initiatives, such as websites, social platforms, digital advertising properties and marketing presentations.
  • Work closely with internal stakeholders and external advertising/creative agencies on the Wawanesa Life brand and position in the marketplace on a regional and national basis.
  • Manage the production of campaign materials and advertisements, collaborating with graphic designers, writers, liaising with websites, publications, vendors and ensuring delivery on time.
  • Responsible for providing meaningful results to leadership on product marketing activities.


Qualifications


  • 8+ years of experience in an in-house marketing communications department or advertising/communications agency.
  • Degree or diploma in Marketing, Communications, or related experience.
  • Experience working within cross-functional teams; strong collaboration and communication skills.
  • Knowledgeable about the full product design and development lifecycle (i.e., launching new and improving existing products).
  • Strong writing, editing and proofreading skills, with demonstrated experience writing for marketing campaigns and digital media; experience with SEO/SEM.
  • Experience with leading and executing product marketing initiatives and developing media plans.
  • Exceptional project management skills: detail oriented, organized and focused on timelines.
  • Experience across multiple mediums, such as traditional advertising, digital communications, content marketing, video, and social platforms.
  • Skilled with web content management systems, such as dotCMS and WordPress.
  • Experience with Adobe InDesign and Photoshop is considered an asset.
  • Experience with content marketing, email marketing and/or HTML and CSS considered an asset.
  • Bilingualism (French/English) is considered an asset.
  • Interest or experience in the insurance industry.
