This position will be a key business partner to both the Operations and Cost Accounting teams. This role is responsible for the development of performance management reporting tools incorporating both operational and financial KPI’s, assisting in monthly closing and ad-hoc financial analysis, and developing and implementing accounting controls to provide decision support to the business. Key Responsibilities:

  • Analyze actual manufacturing costs and provide meaningful explanations to variances from standard.
  • Update and report key accounting and operation KPI such as direct labour efficiencies, plant capacity, cost per unit of production, as well as other reporting tools.
  • Quantify the dollar impact of plant level activities based off on non-financial metrics, providing management with reports that impact COGS.
  • Provide plant-level quantitative and qualitative analysis on cost driver changes so support business decisions.
  • Assist in month end closing process by analyzing and booking journal entries in ERP related to plant as well as corporate.
  • Validate cost savings initiative by the plants in Winnipeg and provide sign off to plant managers.
  • Build strong relationship with business partners.
  • Help in any finance-related activity needed in Ontario plants.
  • Provide oversight on plant payroll.
  • Assist in month-end and year-end closing processes.
  • Assist with standard cost update at the start of fiscal year.
  • Prepare commentary for production-related variances and cost drivers.
  • Supports finance partners in process documentation identifying gaps, weaknesses, and opportunities for improvements.
  • Work closely with Operations and Finance teams to build complete budget and forecast.
  • Create and maintain financial models to improve visibility and tracking of expenses
  • Identify process improvement areas and help develop mitigation procedures.
  • Support project implementations with thorough knowledge of Operations Finance requirements.
  • Ensure adherence to accounting controls at plant level.
  • Other ad-hoc analysis as required.

Experience, Education and Designations:
  • 3+ years in a manufacturing environment
  • 3+ years of relevant experience in an Operations Finance role
  • University degree in Accounting, Business or Finance (CPA preferred, not required)
  • Strong grasp of cost accounting concepts, preferred
  • Experience in process improvement, preferred
  • Experience in annual budgeting for manufacturing company, preferred
