Fueling Brains Academy is a growing Accredited Early Childhood Learning Institute in Calgary and Strathmore, AB that continues to set the standard for excellence. Our quality child care, preschool and kindergarten programs build strong brains for life. Through natural light filled spacious rooms and learning materials, we offer an innovative and welcoming environment that is captivating and stimulating for both adults and children. We are currently seeking enthusiastic individuals to join our team for 8 weeks in the role of Cost Accountant as part of the Canada summer job grant program.

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities:

• Collect cost information and maintain an expenses database
• Construct data accumulation systems.
• Determine fixed costs (e.g. salaries, rent and insurance)
• Plan and record variable costs (e.g. purchases of raw material and operations costs)
• Review standard and actual costs for inaccuracies
• Prepare budgeting reports (for the company and for each department)
• Analyze and report profit margins
• Prepare (monthly, quarterly and annual) cost forecasts
• Assisting in month-end and year-end closing
• Identify and recommend cost-effective solutions

This position is a part of the Canada Summer Jobs Program with funding provided by Service Canada.
Candidates must meet the following eligibility requirements to be considered:

• Be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of employment

• Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or a person on whom refugee protections has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act
• Legally entitled to work according to relevant provincial legislation and regulations (international students on a work/study permit are not eligible for the Canada Summer Jobs Program)
• Youth awaiting a refugee status ruling, as well as those who hold a temporary visitor visa, youth visa or work visa are ineligible.

Qualification:

• Bachelor Degree /Certificate in Account and Finance, Financial Management and/or related fields.
• Relevant Experience (If any).
• "Criminal Record Check/Vulnerable Sector Check" (Mandatory).
• Valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment (Mandatory).

Work Schedule:

• Working Hours: 35 hours/ week, Monday - Friday
• Start Date: Tuesday, 20th June, 2023
• Work Duration: 8 weeks
