The Opportunity

Project: The program is the largest transit infrastructure program in Canadian history. The program will transform rail services in the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area (GTHA), providing two-way all-day train service and improved passenger experience with quieter and faster electric locomotives. The program includes early works, off-corridor station and infrastructure upgrades, as well as an On-Corridor program to deliver new tracks, platforms, facilities, grade separations and electrification.

We are hiring an ambitious and forward-thinking corridor lead to join our established and growing team in Toronto.

Your Responsibilities Will Include:

  • Reporting to the East/West corridor delivery head.
  • Directing a team on one, or more, rail corridors on the program, to ensure the best outcomes for the coordinated team.
  • Taking ownership of all projects under their control on their specified rail corridor.
  • Utilizing their previous experience to drive a culture of best practice for health, safety, wellbeing and program delivery across the program.
  • Engaging proactively with the Metrolinx project delivery teams (PDT) and other Metrolinx stakeholders, such as vice presidents, senior sponsors, and functional teams.
  • Directing a multi-disciplinary team of engineering manager, project manager/s and deputy project manager/s, including other specialists as the rise occurs
  • Driving safety leadership from a figurehead position.
  • Managing client, consultants, contractors, and own project staff.
  • Identifying and evaluating business risks.
  • Setting up effective management/assurance systems and procedures
  • Directing the development of plans to upskill the wider workforce, including the supply-chain, to ensure we leave a better trained workforce, linked to the utilization of Humber College, George Brown College and Telfer Business School, and our GO Expansion academy of learning strategy.
  • Directing the team on the recommendation and initiates change to project delivery plans, identifying areas of improvement to put forward to relevant area in business and operating processes.
  • Interacting with clients and other stakeholders to ensure that objectives are being met.
  • Directing external relationships important for project delivery (e.g., statutory authorities).
  • Liaising with the PDT\xe2\x80\x99s from the various sectors, stations, early works, joint corridor early works, USRC, extensions, to ensure all works are aligned with the common-goal for the rail corridor and over-arching program.
  • Acting as lead for compliance with program health, safety, quality and environment processes for projects, sponsor audit of Rail Corridor, and project documentation, activities, and processes.
  • Developing and delivering implementation plans; establishing commercially beneficial delivery models and leading on innovation & best practice.
About You

You have strong experience across all technical delivery requirements across program and project level set up and delivery requirements. You demonstrate core strategic and delivery capability for setting up an organisation structure and integration with the customer/client vision and objectives. You have strategic and detailed understanding of construction methodology, innovative methods of delivery, technology, planning, delivery, site logistics, commercial and legal/contract issues.

You have detailed knowledge of contract and commercial procedures. You stay up to date with key industry/professional trends through networking and Continued Professional Development (CPD). You understand different types of contracts and able to give advice to clients. You have good knowledge of BIM and able to give advice to clients and articulate BIM strategy. You understand data management. You are proficient in office technology, software and applications. You are expected to deliver results, striving to exceeds the clients\xe2\x80\x99 expectations.

You are able to manage activities with significant uncertainty of solution or outcome. You have detailed knowledge of resource management, interface, key performance indicator monitoring and engagement, directly linked to monthly measurement criteria established, and constraints management. You have positive and proactive approach to engaging with the various project delivery teams.
