The Position:

Under the supervision and direction of the Head Housekeeper, the Lead Janitor Supervisor is a key member of the Det\xe2\x80\x99on Cho Bouwa Whee Catering LP. team, and is instrumental in maintaining exceptionally clean and safe common areas for our guests and who is responsible for ensuring all Janitorial work is completed in a timely and efficient manner.

This for the Janitor Supervisor covers the Main Camp Accommodations, South Camp Accommodations, Process Plant, Recovery, Maintenance Building. At any point, a Janitor Supervisor may be asked to cover anyone (or each) of these positions. The Janitor Supervisor is also responsible for assisting the housekeeping and janitorial staff in other areas, should the need arise.

Maintenance Building Janitor (Janitor)

Under the supervision and direction of the Camp Manager & Head Housekeeper the Lead Janitor Supervisor is responsible for overseeing and assisting the Maintenance Janitor (Janitors) to ensure the cleaning and maintaining of the Maintenance Building. This includes, but is not limited to, the washrooms, lounges, lunchrooms and offices in these areas.

Main Accommodations Complex Janitor (Janitors) -9

Under the supervision and direction of the Camp Manager & the Head Housekeeper, the Lead Janitor Supervisor is responsible for overseeing and assisting the MAC Janitor (Janitors) to ensure the cleaning, stocking and maintaining the Accommodation Complex. This includes, but is not limited to, the washrooms, lounges, lunchrooms and offices in these areas.

Diavik Operations Centre Janitor (Janitors)

Under the supervision and direction of the Camp Manager & Head Housekeeper, the Lead Janitor Supervisor is responsible for overseeing and assisting the DOC Janitor (Janitors) to ensure the cleaning and maintaining the Diavik Operations Centre. This includes, but is not limited to, the washrooms, lounges, lunchrooms and offices in these areas.

Process and Recovery Janitor (Janitors)

Under the supervision and direction of the Camp Manager & Head Housekeeper, the Lead Janitor Supervisor is responsible for overseeing and assisting the Process and Recovery Janitor (Janitors) to ensure the cleaning and maintaining the Process & Recovery Buildings. This includes, but is not limited to, the washrooms, lounges, lunchrooms and offices in these areas. The Lead Janitor Supervisor is also responsible for ensuring the cleaning the Arctic Corridor as required and assisting the housekeeping and janitorial staff in other areas, should the need arise.

South Camp Accommodations Complex Janitor (Janitors)

Under the supervision and direction of the Camp Manager & Head Housekeeper, the Lead Janitor Supervisor is responsible for overseeing and assisting the SC Janitor (Janitors) to ensure the cleaning, stocking and maintaining the South Camp Accommodation Complex. This includes, but is not limited to, the washrooms, lounges, lunchrooms and offices in these areas.

Duties:

Industrial Relations/Safety Requirements
  • Must be fully knowledgeable in the Take Five Program and ensure daily written Take Fives are completed for each and every tasking (onsite training provided).
  • Must be fully knowledgeable in the safe and efficient operation of all equipment in the Housekeeping / Janitorial areas of operation.
  • Must have a complete understanding of the proper use of all cleaning chemicals in the Housekeeping / Janitorial areas and understand the safety precautions necessary while using these products.
  • Must have a complete understanding of WHMIS and the Hazard Identification Program and apply this knowledge in day-to-day work.
  • Thoroughly understand Det\xe2\x80\x99on Cho Bouwa Whee Catering LP.\xe2\x80\x99s Health and Safety Program and apply these principles in day-to-day work, thereby ensuring a safe working environment for all employees and guests at the Diavik mine site.
  • Must use required P.P.E. (Personal Protective Equipment) where necessary. All employees must be in possession of CSA Approved Safety Footwear. Bouwa Whee services will provide certain P.P.E. which must be worn as instructed in all areas and environments where required (such as safety goggles and rubber gloves). All employees have the right and the duty to refuse and not participate in any unsafe work.
  • Through a co-operative and positive attitude, be an active team member that works effectively with all Det\xe2\x80\x99on Cho Bouwa Whee Catering LP. team members.
  • Actively participate in creating and maintaining an effective department safety team.
  • Attend regularly scheduled Safety Department Meetings and provides valuable input to the Det\xe2\x80\x99on Cho Bouwa Whee Catering LP. Housekeeping / Janitorial team.
Administrative
  • Assist Head Housekeeper in preparing weekly orders for cleaning supplies.
  • Provide Head Housekeeper with any information regarding incidents and/or efficiency of the days or night\xe2\x80\x99s operation, so that there will be no change in service between shifts due to a lack of communication.
  • Attention to detail and follow checklists.
  • Assist in preparing an accurate and complete monthly inventory of all supplies and products in your area of operation.
  • Administer daily Housekeeping / Janitorial Toolbox meetings.
  • Strong communication and ability to lead a diverse, multicultural team.
  • Check and ensure that storage areas are well stocked with all necessary supplies and cleaning chemicals.
  • Ensure that equipment is clean and in good working order. Should there be any issues with equipment, address them with the Head Housekeeper before starting your shift and arrange for repair if necessary.
Daily Operational Duties
  • Check daily housekeeping log to ensure a complete understanding of the required tasks for each shift.
  • Stock all supplies necessary for each shift (i.e. chemicals, paper supplies etc.).
  • Check all machinery and equipment to ensure that all is in good working order and the required duties can be completed efficiently and safely.
  • Proceed with duties in the order that has been outlined by the Head Housekeeper during your training period and on your shift checklist.
  • Make notes throughout your shift of any broken items and notify the Head Housekeeper to have them repaired.
  • Before leaving area of responsibility, ensure that all duties and responsibilities have been completed. If unable to complete any tasks, notify supervisor as quickly as possible, to minimize any inconvenience to our guests.
  • Put away all equipment properly and in a timely manner. Ensure the cleaning and organization of all janitorial storage areas daily.
  • Complete notes for Daily Log and pass on pertinent information to Head Housekeeper.
  • Be ready, willing and able to fulfill all reasonable related duties and or requests of the Head Housekeeper, Camp Manager, and/or client.
Skills and Qualifications:
  • At least 1-year related experience in the Janitorial field is preferred.
  • Must be able to work independently under limited supervision.
  • Must demonstrate attention to detail and be able to follow checklists.
  • Must be a team player and work well with others.
  • Must have current WHMIS and standard First Aid certificates and keep them updated regularly.
  • Be able to work 12 hour shifts entirely on your feet, going up and down stairs, in a fast-paced environment.
