Coordinator, People & Culture (HR) Western Canada Location: Edmonton, AB Position Overview: Based out of Edmonton, AB the Coordinator, People & Culture (HR) will report to the People & Culture Manager, Canada Technical Service Manager. This role will provide administrative support and guidance to the leadership team in promoting a high-performance work environment and positive culture trough progressive HR practices throughout Canada Technical Services division of Spark Power Corp. Here's what you will do as a Coordinator, People & Culture (HR):

  • Provide guidance to branch managers in encouraging a culture of high productivity and increased employee morale
  • Establish a strong working relationship with internal client group within the Canada Technical Services team.
  • Bring a field perspective to support the implementation of Spark Power values.
  • Manage administrative duties including but not limited to; sending out Employment Agreements, creating change letters, setting up employee profiles on internal HRIS and assist P&C team with internal reporting.
  • Collaborate with the P & C team on projects and initiatives.
  • Support with core processes such as advising on existing benefit program, new hire onboarding and coordination of payroll/IT enrollment and processes.
  • Be involved with the talent acquisition team and hiring managers to help support recruitment for Canada Technical Services operations team.
  • Be familiar with company policies, guidelines, and procedures, along with relevant employment-related laws, regulations, and standards to support business leaders and Spark Power operations.
  • Being involved in discussions in talent development with managers and engaging with the talent development team for support.
  • Participating in any P & C training sessions rolled out to employees/and or managers.
  • Working with payroll and P & C team to audit internal database systems to ensure accuracy of employee data.
  • Ensure two-way communication and engagement with management and employees.
  • Be the regional expert in the use and maintenance of the HRIS. Provided insights and suggestions for improvement based on the needs of the business and employees.
  • Stay up to date on legislative changes for the assigned operations jurisdictions.
  • All other duties, as assigned.
Do you have the Spark? Here's what we are looking for:
  • 2-3 years of Human Resources experience
  • Experience in technical or industrial based operation is an asset
  • Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Human Resources is preferred
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills, highly attentive to detail and accuracy
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
  • Experience with ERP, ATS or other internal software programs is preferred. Eagerness to learn and adapt to new software is essential
  • Having a sound understanding of employment standards and human rights legislation standards to ensure compliance with HR practices
  • Ability to handle multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced environment while taking initiative
  • Ability to manage time sensitive tasks to meet deadlines
  • Understanding of sensitive workplace issues; ability to act tactfully, diplomatically, and professionally at all times
  • Able to pivot and adapt to changing needs of the organization
  • A positive, proactive attitude and being flexible with shifting priorities
