MacEwan University is seeking a Coordinator, Peer Mentorship for a full-time 8-month replacement term opportunity with our Student Life department. Reporting to the Manager, Student Success, you will play a pivotal role in enhancing students' experiences transitioning to MacEwan University, through developing and implementing initiatives that facilitate a seamless and supportive transition into university life, while overseeing Student Leaders, who aim to foster a sense of belonging, academic readiness, and community engagement among students.


Key responsibilities include:

Recruiting, selecting, and onboarding Student Leaders; Providing comprehensive training and ongoing support and professional development for the Student Leaders; Scheduling and assigning duties to the Student Leaders for Student Life events, ensuring coverage and effective execution of tasks; Working in conjunction with the Leadership and Education Specialist to create a virtual training program for Student Leaders to complete and reference while leading students transitioning to university; Organizing and executing monthly meetings for Student Leaders to facilitate knowledge sharing, idea generation, and collaborative planning; Developing engaging and meaningful activities, workshops, and initiatives for students to enhance their sense of belonging and connection to the university; Coordinating and managing larger-scale student events, including logistics, content creation, speaker arrangements, marketing, distributing prizes, and evaluation; Implementing strategies to address the unique needs and challenges faced by equity-deserving student populations during their transition to university; Gathering and analyzing data to measure initiatives' effectiveness, identify improvement areas, and inform future program enhancements; Working closely with the Coordinator, Orientation and Transition Programs on developing a virtual orientation course for new students; Establishing effective communication channels with Student Leaders, students, faculty, staff, and relevant university departments; and Collaborating with other university departments to leverage resources and create a holistic support system for students.

QUALIFICATIONS

A minimum of a bachelor's degree, preferably in education, leadership or program development. A minimum of 2 years of experience in student engagement, program development, or related areas within higher education. Experience in managing teams and creating inclusive environments. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
