Reporting directly to the Manager, Student Life, the Mentorship & Leadership Coordinator supports various student populations and is responsible for the coordination and management of student success through mentorship and leadership programming. This position provides oversight of mentorship and leadership education, programming, strategies, referrals, and technologies to support students' development personally, socially, and intellectually. The coordinator will partner with appropriate professionals to provide proactive assistance to support student success, engagement and retention. Workloads may fluctuate and alter to meet the demands and needs of students. Special project work to support student success and retention, as assigned by the Manger, Student Life, is an important part of the position. The incumbent is accountable to coordinate projects to completion.
MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Provides leadership to plan, develop, evaluate, coordinate, and implement proactive mentorship and leadership programming in order to ensure effective student development.
Researches, develops, and reviews mentorship programming and opportunities to align with TRU's Strategic Plan and departmental goals.
Designs, organizes and facilitates presentations and workshops related to student development and mentorship programming.
Coordinates, prepares and maintains documentation, records and reports.
Works with on-campus supports to build engagement activities and events that promote student learning and enhance student success.
Coordinates programming and support efforts for special populations of students.
Develops and emphasizes community and university partnerships through collaboration of various events and activities to support student engagement and success.
Consults with peer mentorship leads and collaborates with on and off-campus supports to support student leadership and mentorship opportunities.
Participates in relevant committee and working groups to initiate and build student engagement and success.
Maintains currency in student development and mentorship theory and practices.
Coordinates assignments for peer mentor supports.
Coaches, advises, and supports students on leadership and mentorship opportunities and practices.
Develops information and resources for a diverse student population.
Educates and promotes programming internally and externally.
Contribute to the evaluation and assessment of leadership and mentorship initiatives by collecting and analyzing data.

QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION:
Bachelor's degree in education or related field
EXPERIENCE:
Three years' experience working with students; including:
+ Experience with program development and program management
+ Experience with one-one coaching and follow-up with students
+ Experience working as part of team
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE OR ABILITIES RELATED TO THE JOB
Knowledge of the field of leadership development, student development and related literature and research an asset
Understanding of student supports and mentorship initiatives
Proven ability to manage and coordinate multiple tasks
Proven ability to use judgement, to assess and coach students effectively and discreetly
Ability to plan, develop and execute events and various activities
Ability to communicate effectively verbally, in writing and through presentations
Ability to collaborate, lead others, problem solve and to function as an effective team member
Ability to deal with a diversity of people in a calm, courteous and effective manner
Ability to establish priorities, organize, schedule, evaluate and report out in a timely manner
Ability to design and deliver training for developmental or skill building workshops
Advanced computer knowledge including word processing with Word, PowerPoint and Excel
Excellent interpersonal and communications skills
