MacEwan University is seeking Community Nest Leaders for casual opportunities with our Student Life Department. Reporting to the Coordinator, Peer Mentorship, the Nest Leader role is central to the success of our first-year transition program and will work to create a sense of community and ease the social transition into university life. With ~50 students per Community Nest, you will lead an assigned Nest, providing social engagement opportunities that foster inclusivity, community, social well-being, and integration to campus life.


Key responsibilities include:

Holding weekly one-hour drop-in meetings (both virtual and in-person options) to engage students, offering social interaction, answering questions and planning group events; Attending collaborative Nest Leader meetings; Providing timely updates to the Coordinator, Peer Mentorship; Organizing weekly Community Nest engagement opportunities, actively participating in or attending a variety of campus events that you've invited your Nests to such as sporting events, special occasions, skill sessions, and workshops, or creating unique opportunities to encourage their Community Nest's involvement; Supporting with the organization and execution of monthly events during each semester (September, October, November, January, February, March) that fosters direct engagement within your Community Nest including board game nights, scavenger hunts, trivia events, potlucks, etc; and Participating in the New Student Orientation and Early-Bird Orientation for both the fall and winter semesters.

QUALIFICATIONS AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS



Currently enrolled as a full-time student at MacEwan University, with a minimum of 18 credits completed in your program of study. Must be in good academic standing with a minimum 2.70 GPA. The ability to work from June 26 to August 21 and attend two full-day mandatory Community Nest Leader training sessions in person. Leadership experience or participation in a MacEwan sanctioned Leadership and Volunteer program would be considered an asset. A variety of experiences on your Student Experience Record would be considered an asset.
