MacEwan University is seeking passionate Student Engagement Assistants for casual student opportunities with our Student Life Department. You will report to the Manager, Student Success and collaborate with staff and students to enhance engagement experiences. Your responsibilities will include supporting orientation and transition programs, the Community Nest Program (peer mentorship), and various Student Life initiatives, while assisting students in the Student Life and Welcome Centre. This position focuses on helping students integrate into the campus community and supporting their progress toward the next year of their studies.


Key responsibilities include:

Planning and implementing student programming and events; Marketing and recruiting orientation and transition programs; Event planning for student events; Researching best practices in student initiatives; Providing administrative support; Supporting students at Student Life and the Welcome Centre; Providing campus tours to new students; Supporting students in the Community Nest Program; Establishing and maintaining communication with students through social media channels (Facebook, Discord, and Instagram); and Following a communication plan to successfully reach out and engage with students.

SKILLS




You will have:

Excellent interpersonal and verbal and written communication skills; Strong organizational skills; Strong problem-solving skills; Event organization and planning skills; and Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google, SharePoint, Canva and social media platforms.

QUALIFICATIONS



Customer service experience. A variety of experiences on your Student Experience Record would be considered an asset. Leadership experience or participation in a MacEwan sanctioned Leadership and Volunteer program would be considered an asset.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS



Currently enrolled as a full-time student at MacEwan University, with a minimum of 18 credits completed in your program of study. Must be in good academic standing with a minimum 2.70 GPA. The ability to work 35 hours per week between May 12 to August 31 and 15 hours per week from September 1 to March 31. This position will require you to work additional hours during major Student Life events such as the Summer Early Bird Orientations, Community Nest Program Events, New Student Orientation Days (September 2, 2025, and January 2, 2026) and Student Skill Sessions.
