Reporting to the Lead, Occupational Health, the Coordinator, Health & Hygiene is responsible for continual improvement, consistency, and implementation of Teck\'s Occupational Health and Hygiene Program as part of the ongoing commitment to Everyone Going Home Safe and Healthy Every Day.

A positive, self-motivated individual who enjoys working in high performance environment with minimal supervision. Most importantly, someone who has strong problem-solving abilities, can prioritize workloads, and has a passion for continuous improvement will be vital in this role.

You will have the opportunity to collaborate closely with our Occupational Hygiene team and work with other groups across our operations, building your network and sharing findings.

Responsibilities:

  • Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures
  • Support the implementation, and continuous improvement of occupational health and hygiene programs
  • Support the Occupational Medical Assessment Clinic, including audiometric and spirometry testing, coordination of services with external providers, and various administrative duties
  • Maintain confidential medical records for employees as per applicable privacy policy and standards
  • Perform health and hygiene education pertaining to protection of occupational health and hygiene hazards
  • Coordinate health and wellness promotion initiatives
Qualifications:
  • Diploma in Practical Nursing would be an asset
  • Current Industrial Audiometric Technician (BC), NIOSH-approved Spirometry Technician certification and Respirator Fit-testing certification would be an asset
  • Current CPR certification
  • Experience working in mining or other industrial work settings
  • Knowledge and experience in areas of occupational health and hygiene including data management systems
  • Solid understanding of applicable Health and Safety regulations and the ability to understand and interpret complex mandatory regulations and their impact
  • Strong digital literacy and experience with the Microsoft Office Suite\xc2\xae, especially Outlook, Word, and Excel
