Full-time DEPARTMENT: Crime Prevention Unit STATUS: Full-time

HOURS OF WORK: 35 hours per week* SALARY: $63,845 to $75,167 (2021 rate) per year plus benefits

of administrative support and community policing service for the Crime Prevention Unit within the Police Department.
Responsibilities include planning, organizing, supervising and evaluating the work of one or more staff; recruits and directs a
large number of volunteers engaged in program execution; coordinates and promotes the Crime Free Multi-Housing program;
identifies the need for and implements community crime prevention programs; liaises with a variety of internal and external
contacts; and performing related work as required.

Requirements
Completion of Grade 12 supplemented by courses related to the work, plus considerable related experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience may be considered. Considerable knowledge of community policing and crime prevention objectives, principles, programs and
services. Working knowledge of applicable program policies, rules and regulations, and of the methods, procedures and
techniques as related to the work performed. Considerable knowledge of methods and practices for the recruitment, assessment, training, motivation and
direction of crime prevention volunteers. Thorough knowledge of the needs of community groups, businesses, and individuals as they relate to the work
performed. Ability to identify the need for, adopt or develop, and implement and coordinate crime prevention programs,
services and activities. Ability to plan, organize, supervise and evaluate the work of staff and to coordinate and oversee volunteer
activities. Ability to conduct safety assessments and make related recommendations. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external contacts and to
communicate tactfully and effectively orally and in writing, and to make presentations. Public speaking
experience is an asset. Ability to oversee the provision of effective office support services. Ability to develop and implement methods, procedures and systems related to the work and to forecast unit
budget requirements and monitor and track expenditures. Ability to prepare and maintain a variety of reports, records, correspondence, training materials, files, grant
applications and other materials related to the work. Ability to work non-standard hours of work as operationally required. Ability to obtain and maintain a Police background and security clearance. Valid BC Driver\xe2\x80\x99s License.
