Position Title: Controller Reports To: Chief Financial Officer Job Summary The Controller is responsible for management of the finance, accounting and purchasing departments of the G8 Group\xe2\x80\x99s Maritimes Companies, Allsco and Alweather. The Controller will be directly involved in costing and must ensure the efficient operation of the Divisions\xe2\x80\x99 accounting and taxation cycle and the filing of the various financial reports and returns required in compliance with the laws and deadlines. Responsibilities

  • Oversees the efficient operation of the accounting cycles (daily, monthly, and annually) and any government audits in accordance with the established deadlines and tax laws
  • Prepares, analyzes, and submits the monthly and annual financial statements.
  • Analyzes profitability by customer
  • Manages the cost accounting process
  • Manages cash-flow and optimization of working capital, in particular control over inventory and receivables
  • Prepares of the annual budget and analyzes variances throughout the year
  • Ensures the maintenance of the audit file and internal controls
  • Ensures efficient operations related to payroll administration & commissions, and as well as efficient management of accounts payable and accounts receivable
  • Produces key performance indicators and various reports (sales information by customer, backlog, etc.)
  • Advises in the preparation and progress of major projects in the Division (discounting, margins, billing, etc.)
  • Ensures the team\xe2\x80\x99s performance and cooperation with the other departments of the Company and the Divisions
  • Manages and engages the finance and purchasing teams for the objectives of the sectors under their responsibility, optimizes the strengths of each team member and ensures training of their personnel
  • Analyzes and interprets cost, budget, policies, and profit opportunity trends and presents findings and recommendations to senior management
  • Ensures the application of corporate policies and procedures
  • Maintains trust by keeping information confidential as appropriate
  • Maintains effective working relationships with coworkers
  • Performs all other duties as required
Qualifications Education & Experience
  • 5+ years of experience in a similar role in a manufacturing environment
  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in business administration, commerce or accounting
  • CPA designation is considered an asset

Special Requirements/Training
  • Valid NB Driver\xe2\x80\x99s License (Class 5); use of own vehicle
  • Attendance at meetings outside of office hours may be required on occasion
Working Conditions
  • Majority of job duties will be completed in an office setting in Moncton, with occasional travel to Nova Scotia
  • Evening and weekend work is occasionally required
